The Switch has been a huge success for Nintendo so far. Not only are there insane sales figures for the Switch, but there are also over 26 million Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

However, this is not good news for fans of Nintendo’s older consoles. Continued eShop support on the 3DS and Wii U looks to be ending soon, if this rumor is true.

YouTuber Impact Game Station is reporting that someone sent him a screenshot of an email from Nintendo. This stated that Nintendo will not add any new games to the 3DS and Wii U eShops from April 1, 2022.

This would be a shame, especially for 3DS players, however, it is far from confirmed yet. Take this rumor with a rather large grain of salt, as there has been no confirmation of it yet.

For now though, continue to enjoy your 3DS games and don’t worry too much about the future of the Nintendo eShop. The rumors also suggest that players will be able to access and buy games from the eShop, but just that no new games will be added.

Will there be any mass discounts for games on the 3ds eshop before 2022? Would like to buy a bunch of games on the wishlist, but wondering if I should wait til last second.
