YouTuber MrRoflWaffles has become the first in the world to take on the Aether Worm boss fight in MW3 Zombies, after a staggering 35-hour stream.
Modern Warfare 3 has only just launched and already one YouTuber has 100% completed the MW3 Zombies mode, seemingly becoming the first player out there to beat the Orcus Aether Worm boss fight.
MWZ, (AKA MW3 Zombies) is a new take on the undead survival mode that’s more akin to DMZ than a round-based experience.
However, despite some players’ initial reservations about the mode, there’s plenty to like about it. And, as it turns out, when you put in the legwork, there is some extremely interesting story content to uncover.
Including doing battle with a giant Aether Worm!
World’s First MW3 Zombies Worm Boss Fight
Longtime COD Zombies YouTuber Milo, AKA MrRoflWaffles, has seemingly just become the first in the world to take on and defeat the Aether Worm, Orcus, in MWZ.
The YouTuber began streaming shortly after MW3’s New Zealand release time (which translates to early morning on November 9 in the UK, where he lives).
He then began to grind out all of MWZ’s Act 1, 2, and 3 missions back-to-back, aiming to complete them and be among the first to discover the ‘Easter Egg’ Worm boss fight.
And after a staggering 35-hour stream that lasted until late evening on November 10, he finally achieved his goal. Here’s the moment where MrRoflWaffles finally came face-to-face with Orcus, and the ensuing boss fight:
As it turns out, Orcus does not spawn during MWZ’s final Exfil, as initially rumored. Instead, players will have to complete all 3 Acts of the MW3 Zombies missions.
Then, in the final Story Mission (the name of which contains a spoiler), players will infiltrate a new location and take on the Aether Worm in an epic boss fight.
As far as we can tell, this is the world’s first completion of MWZ’s missions. And as he passed the finish line, Zombies mode developer Treyarch itself even congratulated the YouTuber in his stream chat.
Hilariously, one other player got to witness the finale of the MW3 day one story alongside MrRoflWaffles and his squad.
A user by the name of Brian got invited to the YouTuber’s team through the Assimilation squad-up feature, and was present for the battle without needing to grind the missions himself!
Now, there’s little left to do in the mode for Milo. But future updates will no doubt add further Acts and missions for dedicated fans to complete.
And, as it turns out, there’s even a Calling Card for defeating the Aether Worm 5 times, for those who fancy a grind.
