MW3 players are growing frustrated with melee weapons, feeling that they are too powerful within the game due to their one-hit kills.
Imagine this: you are on a high kill streak, but then a player wielding solely a knife starts sprinting towards you. Due to the health increase in MW3 and the movement buff they get from carrying a melee, they can easily reach you and take you down with one swing.
Despite you putting tons of bullets into them, they kill you instead. It is a problem that has been ongoing, and each day, the community gets more vocal.
MW3 Players Want Melee Weapons Nerfed
Modern Warfare 3 players want melee weapons to be nerfed, as they feel they are too overpowered in the game. With the ability to one-hit kill someone, you can eliminate someone with just one swing.
Tons of CoD fans are looking for this change, and this one Reddit post, shown below, highlights the issue with quite a comedic animation.
While this issue has been in previous games, it has been more prominent in MW3 due to the fundamental gameplay changes, such as an increase in base health.
This means it takes more bullets to kill an enemy operator. However, the time to kill someone with melee weapons in MW3 remains the same. Players believe it is utterly unbalanced at the moment.
Additionally, the faster movement mechanics make it easier for melee holders to move around the map and evade any incoming shots quickly.
This issue is even more evident on the smaller maps, such as Meat and Shipment, as the distance between players is a lot shorter.
These are the main issues that MW3 gamers have, and they are looking to the developers to address them. At the moment, they have not acknowledged the problem, but what can be done to fix it?
What Can Be Done to Balance Melee Weapons?
If Sledgehammer Games is looking to address the melee weapons issue in MW3, there are a couple of things they could do:
- Reduce movement speed when holding a melee weapon.
- Decrease the range of melee weapons.
- Make melee weapons a two-hit kill.
However, whether these changes arrive or if they want to nerf them remains to be seen. Only time will tell if Modern Warfare 3 players get their wish.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for any melee users and hit every shot when they charge at you. Or else, you may end up losing that impressive kill streak.
