A new leak reports that all of the MW3 launch maps dropping on November 10 will be beloved MW2 (2009) remasters!

Those hoping to see classic MW2 maps returning in next year’s title could be in luck. After Modern Warfare 2022 featured a grand total of zero remastered maps, it seems that all that classic content was being held back for Activision’s next game.

Nostalgia is a powerful force and one that’s likely going to sell a lot of games if this new leak is true.

And if you’re eager to revisit some classic locations, it appears that MW3 will act as the MW2 remastered map pack fans were hoping for.

MW3 Launch Maps Leak

According to reliable leaker el_bobberto on Twitter, every map coming to MW3 at launch will be a remastered MW2 map.

That means we’re likely going to see a number of these classic MW2 arenas make a long-awaited return:

  • Afghan
  • Derail
  • Estate
  • Favela
  • Highrise
  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Quarry
  • Rundown
  • Rust
  • Scrapyard
  • Skidrow
  • Sub Base
  • Terminal
  • Underpass
  • Wasteland

It’s important to note that the leaker didn’t actually reveal which maps would be returning, just that all MW3 maps at launch are allegedly MW2 remakes.

However, in a new Call of Duty phone number promo, texting the name of each of the maps above leads to a response text with a pin drop emoji. Therefore, it seems very likely that all 16 maps will be arriving in MW3 – and quite possibly on release day!

MW2 (2022) launched with only 10 regular-sized multiplayer maps, but Vanguard did manage to bring 16 on its own launch day.

On top of that, we know that select arenas, such as Highrise and Terminal, have already been ready and playable in Warzone for almost a year. With that in mind, it’s not unlikely that Sledgehammer Games has been able to make more headway than expected.

For now, we’d take this leak with a small pinch of salt, even with the text confirmations. But it does match reports from way back that suggested that MW2 ‘Year Two’ would feature a major DLC expansion full of remastered classic maps.

When the MW3 Beta drops, we’ll be able to see if this rumor is true for ourselves!
