Players wonder where Streamer Mode is in MW2 and how they can enable it. Unfortunately, the answer may not be what you’re looking for.
Streamer Mode was first presented due to the rise and popularity of streaming. Nowadays, streamers are some of the most popular forms of entertainment.
But when streaming, it is possible to reveal the personal information of others accidentally. This is where Streamer Mode comes into play.
Does Modern Warfare 2 Have Streamer Mode?
Currently, there is no way to enable Streamer Mode in MW2.
Despite being able to enable this in the MW2 Beta, it seems that Infinity Ward has removed it from Modern Warfare 2 for the time being.
In the Beta, players could clearly access their “Account & Network” settings to enable/disable “Streamer Mode” and even the option to “Display Friend Real Name.”
But it seems that the full release has completely removed both those options that served to aid streamers. Infinity Ward has not commented on why they were removed, nor is there any mention of it in the MW2 Trello Board.
So it seems that Infinity Ward may have scrapped this feature completely.
In the MW2 Beta, you could access Streamer Mode using the following steps:
- Press the pause button on your platform (Menu button for Xbox and Start button on PlayStation).
- Navigate to the Gear symbol using RB/R1.
- Scroll to the button and choose “Account & Network”
- Toggle “Streamer Mode” On or Off in these settings.
You can see how players accessed MW2 Streamer Mode in the beta in the video below.

What is Streamer Mode in MW2?
Streamer Mode is an in-game setting that hides sensitive or personal information whenever you’re streaming to the public and reduces the chance of stream sniping.
It implements the following features:
- Other players in your lobby will have generic names.
- It reduces the chances of getting stream sniped by anyone watching your stream.
Here is what Streamer Mode options were in the MW2 Beta:
- Off: Other player’s names are shown as normal.
- On: Other players’ names are replaced with random names (expect for your party members) to protect your privacy whilst streaming.
Although it could make its return alongside Warzone 2.0 and Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2.
