It’s an exciting time to be a Call of Duty fan. As Modern Warfare Warzone draws even closer, it looks like a fan-favorite title will be returning later this year. A new rumor claims MW2 Remastered is coming out in 2020.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered seems to have been on the horizon for a while now, as development reportedly finished back in April 2019. Regardless, a new rumor has reinforced the possibility of the classic dropping later this year. Call of Duty leaker ‘Okami13_’ originated the rumor.
MW2 Remastered Multiplayer and Campaign – Rumor
In a recent tweet, Okami claims MW2 Remastered is releasing this year with Multiplayer. Whether or not you believe it is up to you, but it’s worth noting that they leaked the surprise 2v2 Gunfight Alpha last year almost a month prior to its release.
Okami has also been the source behind a few other reports as of recently, including Warzone coming out on March 10th. If these turn out to correct, Okami’s rumor will have a little more credibility in its favor. Activision is yet to comment on the matter, so it’s important to take this rumor with at least some skepticism.
If it is true, you can expect Multiplayer to be accompanied by a Campaign. Back in February of last year, ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered’ mysteriously appeared on the official Europe PEGI rating board.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Release Date
When is MW2 Remastered coming out? If it’s coming out later this year, it’ll most likely release sometime in October or November.
This is usually when each new Call of Duty title launches, although October has been more common in recent years. There’s no word on a release date as of yet, given how it’s probably still some time away.
It’s unclear as to exactly how things are going to plan out. If Modern Warfare 2 Remastered drops this year, it’ll likely arrive alongside a heavily-rumored Black Ops reboot.
There has been a lot of speculation regarding Call of Duty 2020, in particular. Although Activision has officially confirmed its existence, they failed to comment on who will develop it. This could provide Okami’s claim with a little more authenticity, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
