Call of Duty MW2 Raids are finally on their way, with the first one coming later this month. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
With Season 1 well underway, fans have been eagerly anticipating the launch of the first-ever Raid. These brand-new Spec Ops-style missions were teased a while back, leaving fans wanting more.
Fortunately, they’re almost here, with fans having to wait only a few days to play the first one. Of course, before you all jump in, it’s worth having a look at exactly what Raids are in COD.
What Are Raids in MW2?
Raids are episodic PvE Spec Ops missions that directly follow on from MW2’s main campaign. There will be five of them, with one being released per season.
They involve groups of three players taking part in missions that are several hours long and entail a mix of combat, narrative, and puzzles.
Players will take on the roles of characters from the main story, including Farah, Captain Price, and Gaz. These missions will also take advantage of COD MW2’s new underwater gameplay and stealth mechanics.
Of course, you should try and make sure to unlock every weapon in MW2 before jumping into these challenging missions with your friends.
When Are Raids Coming to MW2?
The first Raid in Call of Duty MW2, called Episode 1: Atomgrad, is coming on December 14th, 2022. Each of the five subsequent Raids will come with the following Seasons.
Fans shouldn’t expect multiple Raids to drop simultaneously, as they are being treated as big events that will be spaced out across the game’s lifetime.
Are Raids Free-To-Play?
Yes, Raids are coming as part of a free update to those who own a copy of MW2. If you don’t have the game, you will need to purchase MW2 in order to play them.
Raids are not like Warzone 2, which acts as a separate free-to-play COD game, and are intrinsically connected to MW2.
What Characters Can You Play as in MW2 Raids?
In the first MW2 Raid, you can play as Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Captain Price, and Farah, who all made appearances in the main campaign.
However, there is currently no confirmation on whether you’ll be able to play as any of the other characters from the campaign in future Raids.
Can You Play Raids Solo in MW2?
Unfortunately, it seems like Raids will not be playable solo. They are being marketed as cooperative three-player missions, much like Spec Ops missions.
Nonetheless, even though everything indicates Raids will be exclusively a multiplayer activity, Activision has yet to confirm this detail. We will provide more updates as soon as they become available.
While you can play normal Spec Ops missions solo, it does require a workaround that isn’t always the easiest to pull off.
