Players can now change the color of their Clan Tag in MW2. A welcome new addition allows you to showcase your style simply but effectively.
Modern Warfare 2 is the first Call of Duty in a while that will have a two-year lifespan. Thankfully, Infinity Ward has implemented plenty of ways for players to make their accounts their own for the duration of MW2.
One of those is allowing you to change the color of your Clan Tag and Name in Modern Warfare 2.
How to Change Clan Tag Color in Modern Warfare 2
To change the color of your name and Clan Tag in Modern Warfare 2, you need to add a specific color code to your Clan Tag when you edit it.
You can easily do this by following these steps:
- Press the pause button on your platform.
- This will bring up a menu on the right side of your screen.
- Use R1/RB/Mouse to navigate to the icon that shows your current in-game Rank.
- At the bottom, you’ll see an option to “Edit Clan Tag.” Choose this option.

- Here is where it can get tricky for console players. On PC, it’s very straightforward.
- For PC Players:
- Press Shift + 6 to add a “^” at the start of your Clan Tag (this is applicable to keyboards set in the English language).
- Now add a number between 1-9. Each number represents a different color which you can find a full list of below.
- Enter up to four characters after the number. This represents your Clan Tag.
- Your Clan Tag should look something like “^7GAME”
- Now back out of the menu, and you should notice that your name and Clan Tag have changed color.

PC players can use 4 characters with the color change, but Console players will be limited to 3 characters, unfortunately.
PS5 players that do not have a keyboard can also use PC Remote Play to change the color of their Name Tag and Name.
- Launch PC Remote Play from a laptop or computer.
- Use that computer or laptop’s keyboard to type in the code of the color you want to change your clan tag color too.

Once you’ve changed the color of your name, the next thing you should look to do is update your Showcase Operator! This is what everyone will see in the MW2 lobby.
