MultiVersus Players Upset That Shaggy, Jake, Taz, and Harley Are Locked After Free Rotation

Players are upset that the MultiVersus free rotation has locked Shaggy, Harley, and other popular characters behind paywalls.

MultiVersus is all about finding your character and honing your skills with them. Each character has its own set of abilities and even customizable perks for players to experiment with.

But with the latest update, MultiVersus has implemented a Free Rotation that alternates what characters are currently free to use.

This may seem like a great idea, but some players are not happy.

Why Are Shaggy, Jake, Taz, and Harley Locked?

Shaggy, Jake, Taz, and Harley were all locked following the end of MultiVersus Early Access. Now that we’ve entered the Open Beta, the Free Rotation has changed to Superman, Garnet, Finn, and Reindog.

The Free Rotation is a system that will rotate the free fighters every few weeks. Superman, Garnet, Finn, and Reindog will rotate out on 8/8.

This has upset many players since Shaggy is one of the most popular characters, and many have already put plenty of hours into it. There was no indication that these characters would lock once Early Access ended.

Now to unlock him again, players will need to spend 1500 Gold. But many players have already used up their gold to unlock other characters. Some players even purchased cosmetics for a character that is now locked for them.

This wouldn’t be too much of an issue, but grinding for gold can be time-consuming. Thankfully, we’ve discovered how to quickly obtain gold, but even then, it can be frustrating for some players.

The Open Beta also added LeBron James to the roster, bringing the total number of characters to 17. So if you’re looking to unlock everyone, it might take some time.

A better system might have been to simply give players a few unlock tokens to start so they could keep their first characters forever. This system almost makes it seem like the characters were taken away for Early Access players.

Even the microtransactions seem a bit much to players, so the only real way to unlock players is to grind for gold. The latest patch also introduced an increase in the percent of gold obtained for a limited time!

So if you’re thinking of unlocking all the MultiVersus characters, including Shaggy and Harley, without paying out of your own pocket, right now is a perfect time to do so.
