Struggling to pick which fighter you should master? Fortunately, we’ve put all of the characters into a Tier List, so you can see which of MultiVersus’ characters are the best in the Open Beta!

With MultiVersus’ early access period just beginning, and with the Open Beta release next week, players are waiting to fight as their favorite characters.

And while many will simply play as the character they want, those who want to play more competitively will want the strongest characters.

So if you’re looking to up your MultiVersus game, look no further than our best characters tier list. We’ll be highlighting which of the fighters in the new platform-fighting game are better than the rest!

MultiVersus Open Beta: Best Characters Ranked

Looking to be the best in MultiVersus? Well, you’ll need a character that can keep up with your playstyle!

There’s a total of 16 characters in MultiVersus currently. And while many of these you’ll need to unlock through play, four are available for free straight away (plus one more if you complete the tutorial!)

S-Tier

  • Batman
  • Shaggy
  • Jake the Dog

Batman has been heavily buffed, thanks to the MultiVersus Open Beta list of changes. His ability to give out plenty of Weaken debuffs and maintain them makes him great at dealing consistent damage to enemies.

Shaggy is also a great character to start off with. He’s fairly simple to learn, but he still packs a good punch. And he also received a few buffs with the patch notes for the Open Beta too.

A-Tier

  • Taz
  • Superman
  • Harley Quinn
  • The Iron Giant
  • Tom and Jerry

Many tier lists put The Iron Giant in lower tiers, but I believe The Iron Giant could be one of the best characters in the game if played right. His attacks can deal devastating damage, and at when enemies are at high damage, they can be easy to ringout.

We’ve put Taz slightly lower than many tier lists. That’s because Player First Games are looking at nerfing him. While we aren’t sure how many nerfs he will get, he’s still a strong character.

Any of the other fighters are great in this tier too. Tom and Jerry have always been a decent pick since the Alpha, and while Harley Quinn saw some nerfs, she’s still a frustrating character when played against.

B-Tier

  • Bugs Bunny
  • Wonder Woman
  • Arya Stark

Arya Stark may have seen some changes from the Alpha, but she can still be a force to be reckoned with. Her movement and attacks are extremely fast, meaning she can be deadly to those who are slower.

Bugs Bunny and Wonder Woman aren’t bad characters at all either. If you aren’t desperate to unlock characters, Wonder Woman can be unlocked by completing the tutorial, and she’s still a good character to play!

C-Tier

  • Finn the Human
  • Velma
  • Reindog

It seems that Support characters, in general, just aren’t great in MultiVersus. While Velma seems to be moving up the ranks on some tier lists, she simply isn’t as good as other characters.

Of course, when played right, Support characters can make winning easier. But they don’t have as many combos in their move set, making it difficult for them to actually knockout opponents like a normal character.

But Finn… what did they do to you? From the heights that Finn the Human could reach in the Alpha, his nerfs have simply pushed him down. He needs some changes to be brought back up, without making him broken, but there are better characters right now.

D-Tier

  • Garnet
  • Steven Universe

The duo from the Steven Universe series are just weak compared to almost everyone else on the roster. Starting with Garnet, she’s too slow, and while she can deal decent damage when her hits connect, she needs to rely on someone else to weaken or slow down an enemy.

And then Steven Universe himself is just too situational. When he has the opportune moment, he can be great. But those moments come rarely, and his slow movement and lack of good kill moves make him the weakest character in MultiVersus.

MultiVersus Open Beta: 1v1 Tier List Ranking

Of course, some characters may shine in a 1v1 mode compared to the standard MultiVersus Duo mode.

Here’s our ranking of the characters when they’re used in 1v1 battles:

S-Tier

  • Batman
  • Shaggy
  • Superman
  • Jake the Dog

The only change here from the Duo mode is that Jake the Dog has been bumped up a tier. He’s got a great move set that can be incredible at 1v1 matches.

MultiVersus Iron Giant
WB Games

A-Tier

  • Taz
  • Harley Quinn
  • Arya Stark

We’re keeping Taz here again, as it seems like he’ll be getting a nerf. And while we’ve made some changes compared to the duo tier list, we believe Arya Stark is a great character in 1v1.

Her speed and decent damage make her a great Assassin, and those who are on the slower side could meet their match.

B-Tier

  • Bugs Bunny
  • Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry drop simply because they’re a high-risk and high-reward duo. If they aren’t played right, they could be defeated fairly easily compared to characters like Batman or even some of our A-Tier characters.

C-Tier

  • The Iron Giant
  • Wonder Woman
  • Finn the Human

The Iron Giant drops fairly hard due to his extremely slow speed, and the fact he can be easily used as a punching bag. But he still deals devastating damage, so if you think you’re an Iron Giant pro, you could still fair well.

Warner Bros.

Wonder Woman is still fairly good, but she is outclassed by many other characters in a 1v1 battle.

D-Tier

  • Garnet
  • Velma
  • Reindog
  • Steven Universe

Other than Garnet, all of the above are Support characters. And that’s no surprise that they won’t fair well in a 1v1 setting. And while Garnet may do better than the others during a 1v1 match, almost every character is simply better than her.
