MultiVersus: How to 1v1 Your Friends

If you’re hosting a MultiVersus tournament with your family or friends, you may be wondering how to 1v1 your co-op partner.

MultiVersus, the platform fighter with a large roster of characters is free-to-play, meaning your friends can join in without paying a penny.

And thanks to full cross-play, it doesn’t matter what platform you’re all on. But if you’re hoping to see who is the best MultiVersus player in your friend group, you may want to complete some 1v1 matches.

How to Play 1v1 With Friends in MultiVersus

You’ll need to play a Custom match to be able to go up against your friends with MultiVersus’ 1v1 mode.

If you’ve already invited your friend in the online mode, you’ll need to disband the party before heading to the Custom Game option.

The Custom Match option can be found in the lobby when you’ve entered the main game. Select the option, and you’ll be taken to a screen that looks like the one below:

Simply change the “Game Mode” option to 1v1 mode. If you want, you can change other options such as ringouts required to win, time limit, and more.

Once your friend has joined, hit play. And then, you’ll be able to select your character and it will play out like when you play online.

How to Play 1v1 With Friends Offline in MultiVersus Local Play

The process of playing a local 1v1 match with your friend offline is slightly different in MultiVersus, and requires going to the local play option.

To do this, simply click Play in the Lobby Screen as if you were going to play an online match. Instead of selecting any of the options that come up, head to the top of the screen and click the “Custom” tab.

Hit the Local Play option, and you’ll be taken to a screen that looks similar to a Smash Bros. match. From here, head to the book in the top right to change the options and change the mode to 1v1.

In Local Play, you change your character BEFORE starting a match!

And that’s how you can 1v1 your friends in MultiVersus. But you better practice with the current characters as, according to a leak, new characters could be coming to MultiVersus.
