FromSoftware recently announced the first DLC for its massive hit Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. Despite only having a teaser image, players have already started to request certain features they’d like to see in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Here are the best fan-requested features for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Lengthy DLC

Elden Ring is one of the most beloved games of recent times. It makes sense that one of the most requested features is for the future DLC to be considerably lengthy.

Thankfully, it seems that FromSoftware already has a pretty decent history of adding a great amount of DLC content to their games.

Reddit user IkonJobin noted that in the past, FromSoftware’s DLC has amounted to a considerable percentage of the base game’s length.

  • Dark Souls – 14%
  • Dark Souls 2 – 32%
  • Dark Souls 3 – 34%
  • Bloodborne – 24%

With the popularity that Elden Ring has amassed, it’s not too far-fetched to believe that Shadow of the Erdtree could introduce an entirely new area with a few Legacy Dungeons of its own.

Miquella Quest Line

Miquella was always one of the most mysterious but present figures in the story of Elden Ring. Players could learn plenty about him and his story through the secret areas of Elden Ring; the Haligtree and Mohgwyn Palace.

But it wasn’t enough. Players want to learn more about Miquella and his role in the Lands Between. It only makes sense since his lore is already sprinkled throughout the Lands Between.

Fortunately, it seems this could be already in the works for FromSoftware since many players believe Miquella is the figure riding the horse in the teaser image for Shadow of the Erdtree.

In the game’s lore, Miquella built the Haligtree to grow into an adult to cure his sister Malenia’s rot, as he was cursed with eternal youth. Unfortunately, he is abducted to Moghwyn Palace before he can complete this feat.

The Haligtree remains as a secret area players can encounter to face one of the most difficult bosses in the game.

Mohg’s Palace offers a less joyful story regarding Miquella, and players can actually find him “sleeping” inside of a cocoon following their fight with Mohg, Lord of Blood.

More Variety in Areas

One feature that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree could truly benefit from is more variety in the areas the players visit.

The Land of Reeds was said to be land of warriors, isolated from other cultures, and stuck in a terrible civil war during the events of Elden Ring.

To give some perspective on this mysterious culture, the armor pertaining to this land is the default armor for the Samurai class. Hence, revealing an abundant Eastern cultural inspiration.

FromSoftware is no stranger to introducing entirely new areas in their DLC. Furthermore, plenty of players have voiced their desire to head to the Land of Reeds to visit the “blood-soaked madness” for themselves.

Although, other players were also quick to note that FromSoftware usually includes a mysterious Eastern land to justify including katanas and samurai armor in their game.

Increased Variety of FAI & INT Weapons

Elden Ring has many incredible weapons, but it left FAI and INT fall behind a few of the other stat attributes in terms of weapons. Shadow of the Erdtree is a great opportunity to add a new variety of them in Elden Ring.

Some players even noted that no weapon only uses Intelligence to improve its stats. If a weapon depends on INT, it usually requires at least one of STR or DEX to be viable.

Faith has a good variety of weapons, but they sometimes lack punch. Players believe Faith could benefit from some utility and more powerful spells.

It’s also worth noting that many FAI builds rely on Holy damage, and most end-game bosses resist Holy. So FromSoftware could include something to make Holy builds more viable.

New Weapons & Spells

It’s pretty safe to assume that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will add a new variety of weapons and spells. But if they were to focus on some of the more overlooked weapons then it would truly make it one of the best new features in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Some of the suggestions we’ve seen around Reddit include:

  • Bow with A scaling
  • Pure INT Weapon
  • Holy Weapon that scales with INT and FAI
  • More Flails
  • Talisman that regenerates FP
  • Circular Shield with 100 Block
  • More Frenzied Flame Spells

Although, one of the more requested weapons is a weapon that doubles as a catalyst to cast spells.

More Customization & Armor Variety

Elden Ring needs a better variety of armor and cosmetic customization. Elden Ring Bling was a popular community showcase where players showed off their armor pairings.

This could grow if Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expanded on the already present armor alteration mechanic in the game. Boc the Seamster allows you to alter your armor, but it always felt somewhat lacking in cosmetics.

An update to what he can alter and more diverse armor would greatly expand what players could do with their characters. Players also think it would be neat to see some customization options for Torrent.

Your mount is one of the most used mechanics in Elden Ring, so the ability to customize it could go a long way with the community.

Replayable Legacy Dungeons

Legacy Dungeons provided some of the most epic moments in Elden Ring. They held incredible boss fights and were masterfully architected.

A Legacy Dungeon with a replayable boss fight would be a great feature for the endgame of Elden Ring.

If they were to add a new area in Shadow of the Erdtree, adding at least one or two replayable legacy dungeons for players to explore would significantly strengthen the end game.

These legacy dungeons could provide new lore for players to explore and add some memorable boss fights.

Fight with Godwyn the Golden

Godwyn the Golden is one of the most important aspects of The Shattering that players don’t get much interaction with during Elden Ring.

Players want to know more about Godwyn, the catalyst of The Shattering, and potentially fight him in either his state before the events of Elden Ring or even a new form after the events.

An epic boss battle with the first-born of Marika and Godfrey would be an incredible feature to add into Elden Ring.

It would be interesting to see what he could provide regarding lore since his death started the events we go through in the original Elden Ring storyline.

Players can encounter Godwyn during Fia’s quest line in the Deeproot Depths. His corpse is directly above where she sits before you enter the dream state to fight Lichdragon Fortissax.

One thing is for certain, the community is excited for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. You can keep up with the conversation on Reddit below.
