Modern Warfare features a slew of new yet controversial missions, although one of which appears to have been hiding beneath our eyes the entire time. An eagle-eyed fan has discovered upon a reference towards the Piccadilly mission in MW2 and has posted their findings to the subreddit.
The Piccadilly Circus mission involves a terrorist attack at the location. While some might deem it as controversial, it seems to have been in the making since Modern Warfare 2. In the 10-year old game, there appears to be a newspaper that resembles the mission.
As NuclearFPS pointed out, the image in the newspaper looks almost identical to the Piccadilly location in Modern Warfare. Not only this, but the text mentions the bombing of Piccadilly Circus.
The title of the newspaper article reads “Makarov Vows Revenge In Taped Message.” Even though this has been in MW2 since its launch back in 2009, it appears to have foreshadowed one of the missions in Modern Warfare.
It doesn’t come as a surprise to see elements of MW2 featured in the latest Call of Duty installment when you take into account that it’s a “soft reboot” of the series. In this case, however, it seems to be a tease of what Infinity Ward had up its sleeve.
It appears as though Infinity Ward was inspired by this aspect of Modern Warfare 2, so much so they decided to implement it in the latest title. Either way, it’s a smart decision to utilize old ideas – especially from one of the most acclaimed games in the franchise.

There are presumably many other aspects of Modern Warfare that have been hiding beneath our eyes the entire time, even though they still remain unknown. If we find out anything else, we’ll be sure to let you know
