A new leak shared on Reddit claims that a new remaster for Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer could be coming this year.
Ever since the release of the remastered Modern Warfare, the chance of more Call of Duty remasters has riveted fans.
The possibilities are seemingly endless, as it's clear that any remaster the Call of Duty devs make will be lapped up immediately by fans. Modern Warfare Remastered was a huge success for the series, and bringing it back to its roots has done wonders for the series' longevity.
Any game could see a remaster soon, with fans praying for a return to the original Black Ops. But, the most likely upcoming remaster ever since Modern Warfare, has been Modern Warfare 2.
A connection from Warzone has teased the return of Modern Warfare 2 already, and some leaks have confirmed that the MW2 remaster is likely. All of this paired with the success of the original game has spurred fans to believe that MW2 Multiplayer is next on the remaster slate.
Fans have been asking recently; will Call of Duty's 2021 title be a new game or a sequel? Well, it looks like it could technically be neither.
And, according to a new leak on Reddit, we could be getting the game much sooner than we expected.
Modern Warfare 2 Remaster Leaks
An archived 4chan thread was posted to the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit this morning. The source is anonymous, but that hasn't stopped fans from getting excited already.
This leak doesn't offer any evidence, so we suggest taking it with a pinch of salt.
The leak suggests that a remaster for the Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer could be on the way. Not only that, but it states the game will come alongside the campaign mode from Modern Warfare 3.
The leak suggests that Modern Warfare 3 Remastered will not be getting its own multiplayer mode. This is because it would be a lot of work for the game's developers to keep up with so many online modes across their titles.
They recently announced that Warzone will remain a priority for a while, and of course, they have to continue support for Black Ops Cold War. This makes sense, as there are only so many online games they can support without any going unloved.
The remasters are looking to be released "around May [to] July". It's also set to see the return of fan-favorite maps like Terminal and Highrise. There are also talks of a beta, so we might get to try it out even sooner.
The leak states "Cold War had a good release, but the player base has shrunk drastically since launch". Plus, Infinity Ward is struggling to maintain 2019's Modern Warfare reboot, as they're already developing a sequel.
Thankfully though, the leak states that the game won't use the controversial loot boxes of the original Remaster. Instead, they'll opt for a battle pass system, similar to that of Fortnite or Apex Legends.
It's a good move, considering the immense pushback the devs faced upon the loot box reveal.
That's all we've learned about the potential Modern Warfare 2 Remaster from this leak.
Still, there's a method to help you play a throwback to MW2. This glitch in the rebooted Modern Warfare lets you play in the third person, like the original's third-person mode.
And in the wake of these leaks, fans are growing frustrated with the 2019 reboot. Players feel that Black Ops Cold War has infiltrated the gameplay of Modern Warfare. As you can probably guess, they're not very happy about it.
