PlayStation users get free monthly games when they subscribe to the PS Plus Essential tier, and May’s lineup has been revealed.
If you were hoping for an action-packed title, racing sim, and even a cycling game, then you’re in luck with May 2023 PS Plus Essential’s free games.
Every Free May 2023 PS Plus Essential Game
Here is every game you will unlock if you are subscribed to PS Plus Essential in May 2023:
- GRID Legends (PS5/PS4)
- Chivalry 2 (PS5/PS4)
- Descenders (PS4)
People already subscribed to PS Plus Essential will unlock these games on Tuesday, 4 May. However, if you’re not already subscribed, you can any time during May to download and keep these games.
Of course, if you choose to unsubscribe from PS Plus Essential at any time, you will lose access to them.

GRID Legends
GRID Legends is a racing game filled with a wide variety of unique cars for you to drive that lets you create your own races. It also happens to star the Barbie actor and new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa.
GRID Legends allows you to play with up to 21 friends in online matches. It has a PlayStation 5 Metacritic score of 77 with a user rating of 5.9.
Chivalry 2
Chivalry 2 is a first-person medieval hack-and-slash action game in which players battle each other in massive 64-player online multiplayer or offline bot matches.
It features a variety of large-scale maps, multiple classes and subclasses, over 30 medieval weapons, and even the ability to ride horses. It has a PlayStation 4 Metacritic score of 55 and a user rating of 5.1.
Descenders
Descenders is an extreme downhill cycling game set in procedurally generated worlds. Players will ride at top speeds down perilous hills filled with obstacles.
Featuring a unique physics system, Descenders is all about surviving as long as you can while riding at dangerously fast speeds. It has a PlayStation 4 Metacritic score of 70 and a user rating of 5.0.
