A popular Call of Duty leaker has offered his thoughts on the location of the next title in the series.
Call of Duty 2021 has been the subject of an incredible amount of speculation. Since Warzone and Black Ops Cold War have brought a lot of older fans back to the battlefield, more and more people are getting excited about what's to come for the series.
2021's Call of Duty title has had its developer confirmed by a leak, and the question is now being asked; is the new CoD a new setting, or a sequel?
There's also been word of a Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer remaster coming this year.
But a new theory is intriguing fans.
The popular Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson has tweeted his thoughts on the potential location and theme of the next game in the series.
Call of Duty Leaker's Theory for CoD 2021
In a concise tweet, Henderson states If CoD 2021 isn't set in the future, I think we're getting:" followed by two images. One of a Gorilla, and another of army footsoldiers. So, it looks like he expects the new Call of Duty game to be titled Guerilla Warfare.
Some fans are sceptical of this idea, but given the idea's era, it would make sense. Players are simply growing tired of modern locales.
With games set in the future like Infinite Warfare underperforming and the modern bracket of the series being occupied by Warzone, it would be unwise for the developers to work on games in such eras.
Plus, as Activision has confirmed that Warzone will be their top priority for a "long time", it'll likely be the titan of Modern-era CoD for a while.
The popularity of Black Ops Cold War's setting has reinvigorated interest in modern history. Such eras between World War II and the present day could prove very popular for the Call of Duty series.
Conceptually this idea makes sense, provided the developers can avoid the political backlash the game's subject matter could cause. The jungle (where fans expect a guerrilla warfare game to take place) would be an exciting new locale for the series to explore and offer some well-needed variety for the series.
The Call of Duty series is well overdue for some variety. Many players are growing exhausted of Warzone's gameplay, and are continually frustrated by Activision's choices. Fans are angry at the gas mask animation problem, and the Roze skin is still considered vastly overpowered.
Luckily though, one player has discovered a genius counter to the Roze skin.
