The highly-anticipated next generation of Pokemon games – Gen 10 – will supposedly be released for the Switch 2 in 2026.

Pokemon fans are always looking forward to future games in the series, and there is nothing more exciting than a new generation with a fresh setting and dozens of brand-new Pokemon to catch.

While the next installment of the series is Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Gen 10 also looks to be on the horizon. This is despite Gen 9 – Scarlet and Violet – coming out less than two years ago!

Gen 10 Pokemon Games Could Release in 2026

Leaker @Riddler_Khu, who has a mixed track record when it comes to Pokemon information, claims that Gen 10 will release to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Pokemon.

As Pokemon turns 30 in 2026, the 10th Gen Pokemon game should release in this year.

With the Switch 2 almost certainly releasing in 2025, this means that Pokemon Gen 10 will, as expected, be on Nintendo’s next console and likely won’t come out on the original Switch.

Additionally, Riddler_Khu claims that ‘Ikkaku’, a supposed codename for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, “will not be out too early next year”.

This claim will be a disappointment for many Nintendo fans, but it also doesn’t rule it out from being a Switch 2 launch title. This is because the Switch 2 may release later than expected, judging by a new statement from Nintendo!

Of course, it’s important to take all of this information with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by either Game Freak or Nintendo. Plus, even if the leak is correct now, game delays are common, and release dates are always subject to change.

In addition to Gen 10 and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, leaks suggest another Pokemon game is in development. However, we will have to wait to find out about this unannounced title.
