In a strange turn of events, it looks as though Dance artists Daft Punk could have a presence in the upcoming Splatoon 3.
The world was rocked by the news that Daft Punk was calling it a day. The titans of dance music had been around for decades, and were a constant force in the genre.
While they weren't the most proactive duo, every one of their records was solid, and the news of their retirement upset fans across the world.
However, they're reappeared in an unlikely place. It just so happens that the "unlikely place" is in the game world of the upcoming Splatoon 3.
The reveal of Splatoon 3 at the latest Nintendo Direct was huge, and excited a lot of fans.
And as more exciting information about Splatoon 3's weapons, game modes and locations are revealed, the hype is reaching a fever pitch.
So, it's a good time for promotional materials to be released- especially when they hint towards a very exciting collaboration.
Daft Punk Spotted in Splatoon 3 Ad
The latest issue of CoroCoro, a monthly Manga magazine published in Japan, had its regular fair share of advertisements. One of those ads was for the upcoming Splatoon 3, the highly anticipated new Nintendo title.
Twitter user HazardxGM has shared the finding online.
It seems like a regular old ad, showing the game playing on a TV, with various ink-themed weapons and splatters strewn on the floor and walls. But, one particular detail stands out.
In the bottom left corner sits a poster that bolsters the two helmet-wearing members of Daft Punk dressed up for their summer holidays. They're wearing Hawaiian shirts, and the poster uses a logo for "Daft Punk Airlines". The poster also brandishes the slogan "Around The World", in reference to their song of the same name.
And, on another page, a potential reference to a Daft Punk video has been found.
In the same Splatoon 3 section of the magazine, an image of a purple paint streak that stretches across the desert, with a figure standing in the distance can be seen.
Fans have speculated this could be a reference to the music video for the song Make Love, a classic track from Daft Punk's back catalog.
This could simply be a homage to the great artists who changed dance music. Or, as many fans have speculated, it could mean that the band have some direct involvement with Splatoon 3.
Some have speculated that before their breakup, they could have contributed some songs to the game's soundtrack.
This is possible, but it could also amount to some player skins, or even nothing at all.
Only time will tell what's in store, but we're excited to find out more.
That's not the only exciting Nintendo news brewing, though. A report has suggested the date that we could finally see the Nintendo Switch Pro.
Plus, there's still new potential Zelda games to come for the series' 35th anniversary.
