Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 makes major changes to melee weaponry, and some players are finding it hard to pull out the knife.
Treyarch’s new shooter is finally here, and it brings all manner of gameplay changes to the iconic Call of Duty formula.
For example, thanks to the new Omnimovement system, users can run, slide, and dive in any direction at will. And with the new Dedicated Melee Weapon system, Treyarch is changing how melee works forever.
How to Equip the Knife
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players can equip the knife by holding down the melee button.
This allows them to pull out their melee weapon, which they can then swing by hitting the fire button.
- PC: Press and Hold ‘V’ or ‘Mouse 4’
- Controller: Press and hold the Right Stick
When you’re ready to return to your standard weaponry, you can either press and hold melee again, or swap weapons as normal.
For now, the knife is the only melee weapon in the Black Ops 6 Beta, but the full game’s release is set to bring more Dedicated Melee Weapons to Multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies.
All melee weapons should function the same, and players can decide on which one they want to equip when building their loadouts.
Is the Knife Good in Black Ops 6?
In Black Ops 6, the knife is a single-hit kill that allows players to instantly eliminate enemies within its extremely short range.
It is, therefore, much stronger than the standard gun melee attack that occurs when players melee with their weapon out.
On top of its excellent kill potential, the knife also increases your movement speed significantly, allowing you to move to objectives quickly, or flank your enemies before they know what’s happening.
After Treyarch’s buffs to movement speed, melee weapon holders can now Tac-Sprint as fast as 8.66 meters a second!
If you’re up close and personal with a member of the enemy team, you’ll be able to take them down silently without gunshots alerting their teammates. Of course, you should bear in mind that this won’t stop enemies simply telling their allies that you’re on the attack.
For the first time ever, all players will be able to carry and wield the knife no matter their loadout of choice. And given its advantages, we’d say this is an excellent change by Treyarch.
