The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Open Beta is about to kick off its second weekend, and developer Treyarch is already confirming a Jackal nerf is on the way.

The first Beta weekend for Black Ops 6 flew by, and we had a lot of fun with our first time playing Call of Duty’s 2024 installment.

But that’s not to say the Beta wasn’t plagued by issues, and players have already listed their biggest complaints about Black Ops 6 across social media.

Perhaps the biggest criticism of the Multiplayer trial was its weapon balancing, due to the overpowered Jackal PDW reigning supreme in online lobbies. Thankfully, that looks to be a thing of the past.

Jackal PDW Nerf Patch Notes

Treyarch has confirmed that the Jackal PDW has been ‘tuned for Weekend 2’ of the Black Ops 6 Open Beta, which is great news for Call of Duty fans who were sick of seeing the SMG in their killfeeds.

Here are the patch notes, featuring nerfs across the board:

  • Decreased Maximum Damage from 29 -> 26
  • Decreased Maximum Damage range from 15.24m -> 14.61m
  • Decreased Near-Medium Damage from 23 -> 22
  • Decreased Near-Medium Damage range from 22.86m -> 17.78m
  • Decreased Medium Damage from 22 -> 18
  • Decreased Medium Damage range from 29.21m -> 26.04m
  • Decreased Minimum Damage from 19 -> 15
  • Small increase to view kick strength and view kick deviation.
  • CHF Barrel Headshot multiplier improved from 1.2 -> 1.4
Jackal PDW SMG in Black Ops 6

The nerf certainly makes sense to us. After all, it felt as though the Jackal PDW was present in 90% of loadouts, thanks to its incredible range and high damage values.

Those playing the Open Beta will likely see much more varied lobbies than those in the early access Beta. Not only will the Jackal nerf encourage players to try out other guns, but weapon leveling is getting a buff too!

With guns leveling up faster, it’s sure to incentivize players to try out new weapons in their loadouts. And there’ll even be a few new guns to try out, such as the Tanto .22 SMG that is unlocked at Level 30.

We can’t wait to drop in and check out all the changes made to the Black Ops 6 Open Beta!
