Fortnite is no stranger to comicbook crossovers, and the latest character potentially making the jump to the Battle Royale phenomenon might be Spawn.
While Spawn may not have the same name recognition as Superman or Spider-Man, his legacy in the world of comicbooks is enormous.
So, are fans of the Hellspawn anti-hero finally getting their dream crossover, or is Spawn destined to remain on the page?
Is Spawn Coming to Fortnite?
While it remains unconfirmed for now, the popular comicbook character Spawn might be coming to Fortnite in the near future.
The character’s original creator, Todd McFarlane, announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that Spawn would soon come to “one of the biggest video games.”
This tease came during the McFarlane Toys Multiverse Spotlight panel on Friday, 21 July 2023. During the talk, McFarlane said:
“In October we’ll be making an announcement where Spawn will be in one of the biggest video games. He’ll be a character in one of the biggest games on the planet. Look forward to that in October.”

This has led many to speculate that Spawn will be coming to Fortnite, as it is not only one of the biggest games currently but often features collaborations with other comicbook characters.
Fortnite has introduced the likes of Captain America, Cable, Deadpool, and Batman as purchasable skins. So, it’s not a stretch to imagine Spawn coming to the game.
However, if Spawn does come to Fortnite, he would be the second Image Comics character to appear in the game, after Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead.
Additionally, Spawn has appeared in a number of video games, including five of his own standalone games, as well as a guest character in Soulcaliber 2 and Mortal Kombat 11.
Who Is Spawn?
Spawn, whose real name is Albert Francis “Al” Simmons, is a Hellspawn anti-hero. He has come up against criminal gangs, the KKK, angels, and demons.
After being murdered by his fellow mercenary Chapel, Al makes a deal with the devil Malebolgia that sees him turn into a Hellspawn in exchange for returning to the living world.
Spawn was created by legendary comicbook artist Todd McFarlane, who had previously worked on Spider-Man, among other popular comicbook characters.
Most notably, Spawn was the first breakout character for Image Comics, the third-largest comicbook publisher in the world.
