Will Nuketown be available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – and if so, will the map be playable on day one?
Nuketown is a staple of Treyarch’s Black Ops franchise. The fan-favorite map, which usually depicts a nuclear testing facility, has appeared in every Black Ops game so far and even some additional titles, such as Call of Duty: Mobile.
So when Black Ops 6 was announced as Call of Duty’s 2024 offering, it was almost certain that Nuketown would return once again.
However, we now have the full reveal of all 16 Multiplayer maps coming to Black Ops 6 on launch day. And Nuketown does not appear on that list…
Black Ops 6 Nuketown Release Date
Activision has now officially confirmed that Nuketown will arrive in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on November 1, 2024.
This means that the fan-favorite map will arrive in-game exactly one week after Black Ops 6 releases on October 25.
Nuketown’s release date (and a sneak peek at its sleek new look) was revealed during a recent episode of the official Call of Duty Podcast:
We were already sure that the map would be arriving soon after the game’s launch. After all, this was the case with Treyarch’s most recent release, Black Ops Cold War.
What’s more, we even saw the map teased in the Black Ops 6 reveal, where eagle-eyed fans spotted a developer loading into Nuketown during our first look at the game’s lobby.
In Cold War, Nuketown arrived in a post-launch update on November 24, 2020, eleven days after the game’s release.
There’s Plenty of Nuketown to Go Around
The good news is that, in the meantime, Treyarch is providing four new ‘Strike Maps’ which offer similarly close-quarters settings.
Interestingly, however, the Strike Map Warhead does appear to contain Nuketown elements, leading many fans to believe that the map could be what Nuketown looks like after the nuclear detonation goes off.
On top of that, Warzone’s new Area 99 map has direct ties to Nuketown!
Set around the Echo Ridge Weapons Station in the Nevada desert, Area 99 is a top-secret government site close to the original Nuketown map.
The resurgence map, which is arriving in Season 1, attempts to capture the vibes of Nuketown’s gameplay, applying it to various POIs around the map.
If you’re a fan of this iconic Multiplayer map, prepare to see a lot of it in Black Ops 6!
