The Hydra Is the New Mangler Replacement in Halo Infinite Season 2

Halo Infinite Season 2 is in full flow, and it seems that fans might start relying on the Hydra after the Mangler nerfs.

One of the most controversial changes in Halo Infinite Season 2 is the Mangler nerf. Technically the weapon hasn’t changed in the major update, but a 10% reduction to melee damage across the board does hit the gun hard.

While previously the Mangler could tag an enemy with one shot and melee for the kill, this is no longer possible. Now, the weapon is in a sorry state, thanks to its slow rate of fire and the removal of its key combo.

Best Close-Range Option in Halo Infinite Season 2

Halo Infinite Season 2 has a new close-range option that’s just as good as the Mangler ever was.

If you miss the golden days of a one-shot, one-melee kill in Halo Infinite, put the Mangler to one side. Instead, try to get your hands on the Hydra, an interesting weapon that’s often overlooked in Infinite.

The Hydra can fire rockets in one of two ways, with lock-on or without. Without lock-on, the weapon will kill an enemy Spartan in three shots to the body, but there’s a faster way to finish your foe.

Simply fire one shot at close range and melee for an instant kill, exactly the way the Mangler used to do it. Even with the melee damage reduction, this weapon still manages to do what the Mangler could.

And even better, it’s more versatile all-around! In the video by StandardAce below, the YouTuber proves that the Hydra is the clear replacement for the Mangler in Halo Infinite.

Meanwhile, there’s more bad news for Halo fans, as Infinite just lost its Head of Design and Lead Environmental Artist in less than 24 hours!

But at least Halo Infinite could be getting classic fan-favorite maps soon, according to a new tease!
