Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has added a controversial new mechanic to online Multiplayer – here’s how to take enemies hostage and use them as a human shield!

Black Ops 6 is the first time players have ever been able to experience Call of Duty’s new Omnimovement, allowing them to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction.

It’s also the first time they’ve ever been able to be held hostage and forced to listen to an enemy player trash-talk them through in-game voice chat.

And while some new mechanics are more popular than others, here’s everything you need to know about taking a human shield in Black Ops 6:

How to Use Your Enemy as a Human Shield in Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 lets players grab enemies and use them as a Body Shield by following these steps:

  1. Approach an enemy player from behind
  2. Double tap the melee button (RS/R3/V) when close enough to your target

If you successfully manage to accomplish both steps, you’ll immediately pull the enemy in front of you to use as a human shield.

When using a human shield, you’ll be temporarily protected from bullets ahead of you. Instead, the enemy player will take the damage for you until they die.

If you want to immediately execute your Body Shield, simply press the melee button once more to finish the job.

Alternatively, holding the melee button will let you pull off a brutal Finishing Move.

Another big benefit of taking a human shield is that it means that the enemy player you grab will be out of the game and unable to respawn until they actually die.

And on top of that, you’ll also gain the ability to talk directly to your new shield until they meet their end. This has, of course, gone viral across social media as players trash talk their enemies or attempt to damage their psyche in slightly more disturbing ways.

We imagine that a lot of players will soon find themselves banned from voice chat thanks to Black Ops 6’s human shield mechanic.

However, both players need to have Proximity Chat enabled in their game’s settings in order to hear one another.

And while we’re discussing new additions to Call of Duty’s formula, make sure you know how to use your new Dedicated Melee Weapon in Black Ops 6!
