The only way to watch The Last of Us for free on HBO Max is through a 7-day trial via Hulu and Amazon Prime and through a 30-day trial with Roku.
UK viewers, unfortunately, cannot watch The Last of Us Season 1 for free, as Now TV does not currently has a free trial.
Of course, you’ll need to know exactly what time The Last of Us TV show airs on HBO Max in order to get the most out of your trial.
The trial to HBO Max via Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Roku is limited and won’t last the entire length of the first season. This means, at most, you’ll be able to watch a handful of episodes before your trial runs out.
Alternatively, you can wait until every episode has aired and then get a free trial to binge-watch the entire season.
How to Get a Free Trial to HBO Max
You can get a free trial of HBO Max through Hulu, Amazon Prime, or Roku. Hulu and Amazon Prime offer a free 7-day trial, so you’ll need to get one of those first if you haven’t claimed them already.
To get it through Roku, you’ll need to purchase a new Roku device and activate it before February 28, 2023.
Be sure you have a full schedule of every episode of The Last of Us before signing up for a free trial so that you can watch as many as possible.

How to Get HBO Max Through Hulu
- Subscribe to Hulu either via its free 7-day trial or one of its paid tiers.
- Once subscribed, select your icon in the top right corner and choose Account.
- Next, select Manage Add-ons.
- From there, find HBO Max (which will have a “1-Week Free Trial” banner above it). Click it.
- Finally, select Review Changes to finalize the addition and get your free trial.
How to Get HBO Max Through Amazon Prime
- Subscribe to Amazon Prime either via its free 30-day trial or by paying for it.
- Once subscribed, go to Channels within the Prime app or through a browser.
- Select HBO Max.
- If you can’t find it click on “see more” next to Prime Video Channels and scroll until you find it.
- Choose “Start your 7-day free trial“, and on the next screen, select it again to confirm your choice.
How to Get HBO Max Through Roku
- Buy a new Roku device between October 28, 2022, and February 28, 2023, and begin setting it up.
- During activation, you’ll be given the option of claiming a free 30-day trial to HBO Max.
- Accept the offer and redeem it.
