Fortnite’s latest Star Wars crossover allows players to harness the power of the Force and become a Jedi Knight on the game’s island.

In the Star Wars universe, the Force is a special power that enables some characters to do incredible things, like move objects with their minds and sense danger before it happens.

You can now use some of these abilities in Fortnite, but first, you must know how to obtain them.

How to Get Force Abilities in Fortnite

To get Force abilities in Fortnite, you’ll need to interact with a Jedi Knight or Sith Lord at Rift Gates. Gates only appear on the map when you’re nearby, and currently only Ahsoka’s Rift Gate is present in-game.

After training, you’ll be awarded a white Lightsaber and the Force Push & Jump abilities.

In the past, we’ve seen three other Rift Gates appear for the following Star Wars characters:

  • Anakin Skywalker (Blue)
  • Darth Maul (Red)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (Green)

In the past, players have been able to get three different Force skills, but currently Ahsoka can only teach Force Push and Force Jump.

How to Use the Force in Fortnite

To use the Force in Fortnite, you must have a Lightsaber in your hand. Then you will need to hold the block button first and then hold down the melee button.

  1. Block:
    • PlayStation: L2
    • Xbox: LT
    • PC: Right-Mouse Button
  2. Melee
    • PlayStation: R2
    • Xbox: RT
    • PC: Left-Mouse Button

In addition, users that have been trained by a Star Wars NPC can also jump again in the air, performing a Force Jump, when holding their Lightsaber.

Their movement speed while sprinting will also increase, thanks to Force Speed.

If you pick up a Lightsaber from a killed opponent, you will not have the option to use the Force. Players can only use it if they have trained at a Rift Gate.

All Fortnite Force Abilities

There are three different Force abilities, and obtaining them will depend on which type of Rift you trained at:

  • Anakin Skywalker (Not Currently Live) – Force Pull
    • Force Pull will drag any players or objects in your surroundings toward you, allowing for easy melee hits.
  • Darth Maul (Not Currently Live) – Force Throw
    • Force Throw will lift up four rocks and any surrounding objects and send them as projectiles in the direction you are facing.
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (Not Currently Live) or Ahsoka Tano (Live) – Force Push
    • Force Push will propel any players or objects away from you, allowing you to create distance to heal or escape.

Additionally, all Lightsabers will come with Force Jump, allowing you to double jump while in the air and Force Speed giving you increased movement speed while sprinting with the Lightsaber out..

Why Is the Force Not Working in Fortnite?

If you have a Lightsaber but are unable to use the Force in Fortnite, it is likely that you haven’t trained at a Rift Gate. Picking up a Lightsaber from another player, or finding one in-game, is not enough to learn Force powers.

You must find and enter a Rift Gate by interacting with a Star Wars NPC to train alongside them and learn Force powers.

If you kill a player who has trained with Ahsoka Tano, for example, you can claim the white Lightsaber but will not be able to use Force Push, Jump, or Speed!
