Unlocking World Tier 4 (Torment) allows you to play Diablo 4’s at its highest difficulty, which grants access to greater rewards.

Playing Diablo 4 in World Tier 4 gives a significant increase to XP gain, as well as access to more powerful Ancestral loot. It’s well worth the substantially more challenging enemies.

How to Unlock World Tier 4 in D4

To unlock World Tier 4 (Torment) difficulty in Diablo 4, you must complete the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon in the Dry Steppes region while playing in World Tier 3.

Gaining access to the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon will require that you:

  1. Complete the Campaign
  2. Complete the Capstone Dungeon at the Cathedral of Light in Kyovashad to unlock access to World Tier 3 (Nightmare)
  3. Change to World Tier 3 at a World Tier Statue
  4. Reach level 70+

The Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon will only become available in World Tier 3 and is located in the Chambatar Ridge area of the Dry Steppes region. You need to be at least level 70+ to tackle the dungeon.

Once you have completed the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon, you are free to change to World Tier 4 (Torment) difficulty at a World Tier Statue.

You can find World Tier Statues in any major settlement in Diablo 4. The easiest one to find is located in Kyovashad, just south of the Cathedral of Light.

Interact with the statue and select World Tier 4 (Torment) to enter World Tier 4 difficulty.

You can attempt to take on the Dungeon at any point in during your time in World Tier 3, but it’s strongly recommended to level up to level 70 first to make it easier

When you begin to near level 70, a Priority Quest will pop up, prompting you to take on the dungeon. Completing the dungeon will allow you to change to World Tier 4.

What’s Different in World Tier 4 in Diablo 4?

The biggest change you’ll experience while playing in World Tier 4 is the massive difficulty increase in enemies and the possibility for Ancestral gear and Uber Unique Items to drop as loot.

Here’s what you can expect in World Tier 4:

  • Enemies are more difficult
  • Monsters give 200% more experience
  • Monsters drop 15% more gold
  • Monsters overcome 40% Resistance
  • Ancestral Items and new Uber Unique Items can drop

Ancestral gear pieces are more powerful variants of normal and Sacred loot. Typically, Ancestral gear will have better stat rolls and more powerful affixes. Ancestral gear can only drop as loot in World Tier 4.

Additionally, there are six Uber Unique Items that will only drop in World Tier 4, if you are at least level 85+. These are widely considered to be some of the most potent and sought-after items in the entire game.

Clearly, there are a lot of reasons to try your hand at World Tier 4 in Diablo 4. It poses a particularly grueling challenge but has huge potential for tantalizingly powerful rewards.
