Every Way to Unlock Finishing Moves in MW2 & Warzone 2
There are three guaranteed ways to unlock Finishing Moves in COD MW2 and Warzone 2:
- Unlocking them in the Battle Pass
- Buying Operator Bundles
- Purchasing the Vault Edition
Progressing through the Battle Pass in Call of Duty MW2 and Warzone 2, as well as buying Operator bundles and the Vault Edition, will all unlock Finishing Moves.

Gaining Finishing Moves via the Battle Pass is done by unlocking the Battle Pass exclusive Operators, who each come with their own Finishing Move.
Of course, if you are thinking of unlocking some this way, then you may want to consider checking out how to get Battle Pass Token tier skips in MW2 and Warzone 2.
You will also unlock Finishing Moves for any Operator bundles you purchase through the in-game store, such as the Gaz Operator Bundle.
Finally, the Vault Edition comes with four Operators (Ghost, Farah, Soap and Price), which each have their own unique Finishing Move.

Players have also reported on Reddit that they’ve unlocked Finishing Moves by using an Operator a lot, getting multiple Finishing Move kills with a specific Operator, or through “hidden challenges”.
However, these aren’t guaranteed to work, as others have claimed they didn’t work for them. Fans have speculated that these techniques are tied to hidden Operator challenges, but there is no evidence to prove this.
How to Do a Finishing Move in MW2 & Warzone 2
To perform a Finishing Move in MW2 and Warzone 2, you must move behind an opponent and hold down the melee button (V on PC and R3 on consoles).
It is easier to accomplish if you use a flashbang or decoys as they will distract your opponent. However, you can still do a Finishing Move without any additional equipment.

The Finishing Move animation will then play out automatically, and your opponent will be killed. It’s a little tricky to pull off, but you can practice against the AI in private matches if you’re struggling.
You don’t need to use any specific weapon to do a Finishing Move in COD MW2 and Warzone 2. It can be done with any primary or secondary weapon equipped.
Finishing Moves can also be used against enemies that are standing, crouched, prone, or even already downed. A different animation will play out depending on which position they’re in.
Of course, if you want to get your hands on your desired tactical equipment to make pulling off a Finishing Move easier, then you’ll want to drop at the best landing spot to make money in Warzone 2.

Are MW2 & Warzone 2 Finishing Moves Bugged?
Yes, MW2 and Warzone 2’s Finishing Moves are bugged, as the default Operator Finishing Moves are locked yet somehow equipped to all Operators.
If you decide to change an Operator’s default Finishing Move to a different one, the default move will no longer be accessible because it is locked.
The only real fix is to simply not change Finishing Moves, especially if you like the default one. Fans have reported that this bug also affects the Finishing Moves unlocked through the Vault Edition as well.
Raven Software is aware of this and has noted it. However, as of now, it still remains under investigation, meaning there is currently no fix for this bug.
Of course, if you want to know when any of the bugs or issues in MW2 will be fixed, then you can check out the MW2 Trello board. There’s even one for Warzone 2 as well!
