Best FTAC Recon Loadout in MW2 – Attachments, Perks & More

The FTAC Recon is a killer Battle Rifle in MW2, and using our best loadout for this gun will make it even more powerful.

Battle Rifles are an underestimated class of guns in Modern Warfare 2. These weapons pack a punch, even without any attachments.

However, using the Gunsmith 2.0 system, you can make these guns even more dangerous than before. Not many are more deadly than the FTAC Recon.

  • Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip – Unlocked at M4 Level 8

Make sure to find out how to level up your guns quickly to use this loadout as soon as you can!

Best FTAC Recon Loadout Build & Attachments in MW2

The Bull Rider 16.5″ barrel provides the FTAC Recon with increased stability, upping its already decent recoil control and damage range.

For the optic, we went with the Forge-Tac Delta 4. While this is mostly up to your preference, we chose this for long-range kills.

We decided that the Demo Precision Elite Factory was the best choice for the stock, thanks to the further boost in recoil control.

We thought the best grip for this loadout would be the Sakin ZX Grip, primarily as it increases stability through recoil control even more.

Finally, we went with the VX Pineapple as our underbarrel. This is because it helps with recoil steadiness, aim walking steadiness, and it also helps with hip fire accuracy.

How to Unlock the FTAC Recon in MW2

To unlock the FTAC Recon in Modern Warfare 2, you’ll need to level up the M4 Assault Rifle until it reaches Level 13.

Fortunately, the M4 is unlocked by default, meaning you won’t have to go through a few weapons to reach the FTAC Recon.

Best Secondary to Use With the FTAC Recon

The best secondary to use with the FTAC Recon is the X13 Auto. This is thanks to its high fire rate and decent damage.

You can even use the Side Impact blueprint for the X13 Auto, which players of the MW2 Beta could unlock as a reward.

If you’re happy to use one of your Base Perk slots on Overkill, you could also use a shotgun like the Expedite 12.

Best Perks to Use With the FTAC Recon

The best perks to use alongside your FTAC Recon build in MW2 are:

  • Battle Hardened
  • Scavenger
  • Cold-Blooded
  • Ghost

This perk package will help you stay off enemy radars as often as possible, allowing you to pull off kills at a distance. It’s also useful for making location changes and setting up your camping spot elsewhere.

The new perk packages in Modern Warfare 2 are different from the previous Call of Duty games, so it’s worth learning more about them before we go into further detail.

Best FTAC Recon Base Perks

  • Battle Hardened
  • Scavenger

Battle Hardened is a great Base Perk, as you’ll be less inhibited by Tactical equipment such as Stun Sticks or Gas Grenades. You’ll also be immune to Snapshot Grenades, making it difficult for enemies using these to track you.

Scavenger can be used to restock your ammo when your FTAC Recon gets low. Since you’ll be frequently getting close to killstreaks, it’s good to make sure you don’t lose these streaks due to a lack of ammunition.

Best FTAC Recon Bonus Perk

  • Cold-Blooded

Since you’ll be making yourself comfy at a variety of locations, ensuring that AI Targeting killstreaks don’t find you will increase your odds of surviving enemy encounters. Thankfully, Cold-Blooded allows for this.

There’s the added bonus that some enemy Field Upgrades, like Tactical Cameras or Recon Drones, won’t alert enemies either.

Best FTAC Recon Ultimate Perk

  • Ghost

UAVs are extremely easy killstreaks to get in Modern Warfare 2 and can be detrimental to you as you stay in the same location for periods of time. That’s why using Ghost will ensure you can’t be tracked by this killstreak.

Unfortunately, Ghost is a very high-level reward, so you’ll need to level up fast in MW2 to be able to gain access to it. But once you do, you’ll definitely need to include it in this loadout.

Best Equipment to Use in FTAC Recon Loadout

Here are the best pieces of equipment to use with the FTAC Recon Loadout in MW2:

  • Tactical – Shock Stick
  • Lethal – Drill Charge

While at close range, enemies can still kill you when the Shock Stick affects them, as they can aim and shoot continuously, albeit with difficulty. But at mid-range, you’ll be able to take them out fairly easily.

As for the Drill Charge, this ensures you can take back locations taken by the enemy without engaging directly. You can also throw it at a wall near an objective to disrupt their play.

Best Field Upgrade to Use in FTAC Recon Loadout

The best Field Upgrade to use with our FTAC Recon build is the Portable Radar in Modern Warfare 2.

This Field Upgrade can help you track enemies that are entering your location, and allow you to prepare for a firefight to start.

You can also plant it in locations where enemy activity is common, meaning you can keep a watch and get some good kills.

Best Alternatives to the FTAC Recon in MW2

The FTAC Recon may be one of the best Battle Rifles in Modern Warfare 2, but there are a few good alternatives that you should watch out for:

  • Lachmann-762 – This Battle Rifle is equally powerful in semi-auto and automatic firing modes. While it lacks some recoil control, it can be a great gun with and without attachments.
  • TAQ-V – Offering a balanced set of stats, the TAQ-V is an incredible gun for those who don’t want to mess around with a varied build to get the best out of a weapon.

Now, you should have all of the information you need to make the best FTAC Recon Loadout in MW2. But there are plenty of guns in Modern Warfare 2 you could start using.
