MW2 & Warzone Season 1 Reloaded brings a new gun to the title’s modern weapon roster – here’s how to unlock the Chimera.
One of the most exciting parts of a new major Call of Duty update is the addition of a brand-new weapon. This time around, the Chimera is making its debut in Warzone 2 and MW2 Multiplayer alongside the mid-season update.
Long-term fans might recognize the Honey Badger from Call of Duty Ghosts making a welcome return. Now named the Chimera, the gun is still an Assault Rifle that excels in close-range stealth operations.
How to Unlock the Chimera in Warzone 2 & MW2
There are two ways to unlock the Chimera in Warzone 2 & MW2, as of Season 1 Reloaded. Call of Duty fans can purchase a store bundle containing the new gun or unlock it via an in-game weapon challenge for free.
You will only need to complete one of these methods to unlock the Chimera AR in MW2 and Warzone 2:
Dark Skies Store Bundle
Purchasing the Dark Skies bundle from the Call of Duty in-game store will give you the “Darkcell” weapon blueprint for the Chimera and will therefore allow you to equip the weapon.
This bundle will cost you 1200 COD Points, and contains the following:
- “Darkcell” Chimera Weapon Blueprint
- “Not So Twinkly” Weapon Charm
- “UAP” Weapon Sticker
- “Unloaded” Loading Screen
MW2 Multiplayer Chimera Unlock Challenge
To unlock this weapon by playing MW2 Multiplayer, players will need to get 2 Operator Kills with ARs in 15 separate matches. Operators is the name used for human players, so AI kills in modes like Invasion will not count towards this challenge.
Since this still works when you quit matches, there are currently a lot of players quitting Multiplayer games after they’ve got 2 kills.
Warzone 2.0 Chimera Unlock Challenge
To unlock this weapon by playing Warzone 2, players will need to Extract Weapon from DMZ Building 21.
Once you’ve completed any one of the methods listed above, you will be able to equip the Chimera AR through the Weapon tab on the main menu.

What Is the Chimera in MW2 & Warzone 2?
The Chimera is a new Assault Rifle introduced in MW2 & Warzone Season 1 Reloaded. This weapon is adapted for stealth operations and designed to keep its user entirely hidden from sight.
With Subsonic Ammo equipped, Operators will be able to hide kill skulls from the enemy team map and sneak around AI enemies with ease.
However, as a trade-off, the Chimera has one of the shorter ranges in the Assault Rifle class, making it closer to an SMG than an AR. In a short-to-mid range engagement, it’s the perfect gun to have by your side.
