Season Two of Call of Duty Modern Warfare is now available. While its update was a large one, to say the least, it seems to have actually introduced some useful changes, one of which is the ability to dual-wield pistols through the Akimbo perk. That said, here’s how to unlock Akimbo in Modern Warfare.
The addition of Akimbo seems to have fallen under the radar, while Rust and the possibility of Battle Royale have taken the limelight. For those of you who don’t know, Akimbo has appeared in various Call of Duty titles before Modern Warfare.
Although the feature takes up a perk slot in Gunsmith, it still increases your chances of eliminating opponents as you’re essentially carrying a weapon in each hand.
How to Unlock Akimbo in MW
In order to unlock Akimbo in Modern Warfare, there’s a series of challenges you’ll need to complete first of all. There’s a total of five pistols compatible with Akimbo. You can equip the perk to them after you’ve completed the challenge for that particular weapon.
For all of the following challenges, you’ll need to get 3 kills in 5 different matches using:
- X16 – with the Sleight of Hand perk
- 1911 – with the Mo’Money perk
- .357 – with the Recon perk
- M19 – with the Frangible-Wounding perk
- .50 GS – with the FMJ perk
Those are the challenges you need to complete in order to unlock Akimbo for your respective pistol. Once you have completed one of them, you’ll need to remember to equip the perk via the Gunsmith.
After Akimbo has been equipped, you’ll be left with four other attachments. Depending on your pistol, this should be enough to make the perk worthwhile.
Overall, the challenges seem fairly straightforward and shouldn’t require too much effort. Even if you’re not necessarily a massive fan of Akimbo, it’s worth completing the challenges just to have the perk available as an option.
