Fortnite just added a slide kick to the game, but how does it work, and how can it be used to damage enemies or dislodge a runaway boulder?
It’s a new season with new guns, new mechanics, and a LOT of new Chrome on the map. On top of that, there are a lot of exciting new rewards just waiting to be unlocked!

How To Slide Kick in Fortnite
To slide kick in Fortnite you simply need to be sprinting and then sliding with momentum before coming into contact with an object or player. Sliding through will automatically perform the slide kick.
- Start sprinting by pressing / holding the following button whilst moving forward:
- PC: Shift (Left hand-side)
- Xbox: Left Analogue Stick (LSB)
- PlayStation: Left Analogue Stick (L3)
- Switch: Left Analogue Stick
- Whilst sprinting, press the right analog stick on the controller, or Left CTRL on the keyboard, to begin sliding.
- When you come into contact with an enemy or object while sliding, you’ll automatically perform a slide kick. You’ll need to have enough momentum to maintain your slide, so bear that in mind when going for a kick.
Despite the mechanic being called a slide ‘kick,’ note that the animation is no different from a regular slide in-game.
Enemies hit by the slide kick will get knocked back, so take this opportunity to disrupt their aim or knock them off a ledge to their doom.
How to Use a Slide Kick to Dislodge a Runaway Boulder
To dislodge a runaway boulder with a slide kick, your best bet is to shoot the base of the boulder until its health is low, then run and slide into it.
For one of your Fortnite Weekly Challenges, players will be tasked with using a slide kick to dislodge a boulder. If done correctly, you’ll be able to finish off the object’s last bit of health with the slide kick, completing the challenge successfully.
