When exploring the hotter areas of the map in Zelda: TOTK, like the Gerudo desert, you need to make sure you’ve got additional Heat Resistance!

If the temperature gets too hot and you aren’t wearing the right gear, you will start to take damage. This can quickly lead to a Game Over screen if you aren’t prepared!

Luckily, there are quite a few ways you can withstand even the hottest temperatures in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to Survive Heat in Tears of the Kingdom

To survive the heat in TOTK, you must increase your Heat Resistance by wearing heat resistant armor or by eating food that grants the Heat Resistance effect.

Getting Heat Resistant armor can be difficult though, as you’ll need to venture into the Gerudo Desert to Kara Kara Bazaar to get the Desert Voe Headband. This gives you 1 Heat Resistance, which should be enough to protect you from heat most of the time.

However, if you want more Heat Resistance, you’ll need to get the Desert Voe Trousers and Spaulder. Unfortunately, you can only buy them from the hidden shop in Gerudo Town.

Best Way to Get Heat Resistance in TOTK

The best way to get heat resistance in Zelda: TOTK is by purchasing the Desert Voe Armor set for a total of 2400 Rupees.

The Desert Voe Headband is sold by Saula in Kara Kara Bazaar. Meanwhile, the Desert Voe Trousers and Spaulder are sold by Greta in the Gerudo Secret Club.

You can also get the Sapphire Circlet from Cara in the Gerudo Town Shelter for 1400 Rupees. However, this grants no more heat resistance than the Desert Voe Headband and costs 950 Rupees more!

How to Increase Heat Resistance Quickly

The fastest way to increase your Heat Resistance in The Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom is by using a Cooking Pot or Portable Pot Zonai Device to cook 5 Chilled Mushrooms, Hydromelon, or Chillfin Trout.

This will make a Chilly Mushroom Skewer, a Chilly Simmered Fruit, or a Chilly Fish Skewer, which gives you 12 minutes and 30 seconds of Heat Resistance.
