One of the many new features added in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 is the ability to pet wolves and boars – here is how you pet them.
The ability to tame animals was introduced to Fortnite back in Chapter 2 Season 6, also known as Primal. Since then, Epic Games has not only introduced the ability to ride animals but also pet them.
If you happen to see a wolf or boar roaming the wilds, you can now give them a good petting. While updates to gameplay are always appreciated, it’s hard not to love it when Fortnite gets a fun new addition.
Petting animals isn’t the only thing Chapter 3 Season 4 has added, as we’ve also been treated to a brand-new selection of Battle Pass skins.
How to Pet Wolves & Boars in Fortnite
To pet your boar or wolf in Fortnite, simply press Down on the D-Pad (or B on keyboard) while riding them.
Petting animals don’t have any practical benefits such as restoring stamina. However, if you pet an animal three times in a match, you’ll gain the “Who’s A Good Boy?” accolade and 500 XP.

How To Ride A Wolf or Boar
Riding animals was introduced to Fortnite in Chapter 3 Season 3, and it is a simple process with very few steps:
- Find a wolf/boar spawn
- Lure it towards you or sneak around it
- Press the jump button and make sure to land on its back
While the process may be simple, the reward you get from doing it is incredibly useful. Not only will you be able to ride on your wolf or boar, but it will also follow you around when you’re not riding it.
Once you’ve tamed either a boar or a wolf in Fortnite, you will be able to pet it whenever you like. While it is a simple feature, it helps to build a bond between you and your ride.

Where to Find Boars and Wolves in Fortnite
Boars are traditionally found in fenced-off areas, forests, or occasionally in the snowy mountains, while wolves tend to stick to named locations near wooded areas.
It is worth noting that you’re not guaranteed to find either animal in specific locations and that the amount of animals roaming the wild seems to have been reduced somewhat.
What Can Boars and Wolves Do in Fortnite?
Aside from serving as speedy mounts, both a boar and a wolf can be used to charge into enemies, with the boar headbutting any enemy it touches.
To charge against enemies, just hold down the sprint button and watch as your newly tamed animal crashes into your opponent.
Of course, if you stand any chance of winning in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, then you’ll want to farm infinite Chrome Splash fast.
