If you’re looking to complete the “Pet tamed wolves or boars in different matches” quest as a part of the Summer Escape event in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3, you’ve come to the right place.
The ability to tame animals was introduced to Fortnite back in Chapter 2 Season 6, also known as Primal. Since then, Epic Games has introduced the ability to ride animals and pet them.
Petting tamed wolves and boars is incredibly simple and won’t take much effort. Below, we’ve outlined where to find wolves and boars, how to tame them, and how to pet them.
How to Pet Tamed Wolves and Boars in Fortnite
To pet a tamed boar or wolf in Fortnite, you must first jump on its back, and then, while riding them, simply press Down on the D-Pad (or B on keyboard).
If you’ve rebound your emote button, the Pet command may also have changed to your new keybind.
Petting animals doesn’t have any practical benefits, such as restoring stamina. However, if you pet an animal three times in a match, you’ll gain the “Who’s A Good Boy?” accolade and 500 XP.
Where to Find Boars and Wolves in Fortnite
The best places to find wolves and boars in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 is around:
- Breakwater Bay
- The Citadel
- Shattered Slabs
The highest concentration of wolves and boars tends to spawn around the western to northwestern side of the map. However, you can also find them across the rest of the map as well.
You’ll typically find them roaming outside of POIs in grassy areas. Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed spawn point for either wolves or boars.
How To Ride a Wolf or Boar
To ride a wolf or boar in Fortnite, you must do the following:
- Find a wolf/boar spawn
- Lure it towards you by dropping meat nearby, or sneak up to it.
- Press the jump button and land on the wolf or boar’s back.
Once you’ve jumped on its back, it will become tame. The wolf or boar will then follow you around when you’re not riding it and attack your opponents.
Additionally, you can now pet the tamed wolf or boar whenever you like by following the above method.
What Can Boars and Wolves Do in Fortnite?
Aside from serving as speedy mounts, both a boar and a wolf can be used to charge into enemies, with the boar headbutting any enemy it touches.
To charge against enemies, just hold down the sprint button and watch as your newly tamed animal crashes into your opponent.
