How To Make Sure You’re Playing The Right Version of Black Ops Cold War on PS5

There's a weird quirk with the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that tricks players into playing the PS4 version of the game.

The next generation of consoles has officially kicked off, albeit with some growing pains. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War also launched alongside the new consoles, with next-gen versions offering higher resolutions and other benefits.

However, when PS5 players download Black Ops Cold War, the PS5 downloads the PS4 version as well.

Not only that, it actually defaults to the PS4 version of the game. This obviously leads to some players unknowingly playing the wrong version of the game.

YouTube Star Ali-A tweeted out a PSA showing how to fix the issue.

How to Fix The Problem

To make sure you're playing the right version of the game, you have to manually swap to the PS5 version. Here's how to do it.

From the PS5's home screen, move your cursor over Cold War and go down to the "Play" button. From there, go right and select the ellipsis icon and change it the the PS5 version.

It's unfortunate that the PS5 downloads two versions of an already huge game, especially considering how limited the storage space is.

But now that you're playing the right version of the game, it could be a good time to check out how to rank up faster in Black Ops Cold War.
