To inspect your weapon in MW2, you’ll need to hold down the left arrow on the d-pad. If you’re using a keyboard and mouse, you’ll need to press down the “I” key.
This will prompt your operator to start a quick animation highlighting your weapon and inspecting its parts.
Most of the time, they’ll also remove the magazine and examine it. It’s a great way to learn more about your weapon and see how your camo looks.

Can You Inspect Your Weapon in MW2 Gunsmith?
No, there is no way to inspect your weapon in the Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith. This was a feature that did not carry over from previous games.
Although, now you can enter the Firing Range directly from the Gunsmith by pressing Triangle or Y on your controller.
