The Steinbjorn Armor set in God of War Ragnarok is one of the best for its incredible defense stats – but you’ll need to find out how to get it first.
While Kratos may be a powerful God, he’s not as strong without a great set of armor. Fortunately, there are plenty of sets to find throughout God of War’s Nine Realms.
However, one stands out for its amazing defensive capabilities. The Steinbjorn Armor set is a must-have for anyone looking to take on post-game content.
Here’s how you can get your hands on this armor set!
How to Unlock Steinbjorn Armor Set in God of War Ragnarok
Players will need to find a Mystical Heirloom relic in Midgard, before waking and defeating three Troll statues across the Nine Realms. Here’s what you need to do in this guide:
- Find and equip the Mystical Heirloom
- Wake and defeat a Troll in Midgard
- Wake and defeat a Troll in Alfheim
- Wake and defeat two Trolls in Vanaheim
- Craft the Steinbjorn Armor at a Shop
After this, you’ll be able to craft the Steinbjorn Armor set. Don’t worry, as we’re going to show you what you’ll need to do!

If you’re at this point of the game, you’ve likely seen the ending, which may be confusing to some. Here’s the God of War Ragnarok ending explained!
Where to Find the Mystical Heirloom Relic
The Mystical Heirloom Relic can be found in Midgard, but only after unlocking the Draupnir Spear in God of War Ragnarok:
- Head to the Lake of Nine Mystic Gateway
- Go to the Southwest side of Tyr’s Temple (see the image below)

- Find an iceberg with a yellow crack in it
- Throw the Draupnir Spear at the crack, then detonate it
- Pick up the Mystical Heirloom on the floor
After this, you can equip it like any other Relic. It’s essential to have this equipped to get the materials for the Steinbjorn Armor, but it has no abilities to help in combat.
Troll #1 Location – Midgard
The first Troll you’ll need to find is in Midgard’s Derelict Outpost, a short trip away from where you found the Mystical Heirloom.

Once you find the first Troll, it will be in statue form. Use the Mystical Heirloom (L1 + Circle) to wake it up. Kill it to receive Slumber Stones for the first piece of the Steinbjorn Armor.

Troll 2 Location – Alfheim
You can find the second Troll in Alfheim, in The Forbidden Sands region of the map. However, you’ll need to finish The Song of the Sands Favor.

He can be found as a statue Southwest of The Burrows. Once again, you’ll need to use the Mystical Heirloom Relic (L1 + Circle) to wake him up and initiate the fight.

After this, you’ll receive more Slumber Stones to craft another piece of the Steinbjorn Armor.
Troll 3 Location – Vanaheim
The final Trolls can be found in Vanaheim, in Noatun’s Garden. You’ll need to fight two Trolls this time, one with Frost resistance and one with Fire resistance.
You can find these Trolls directly under the Noatun’s Garden region title in the map.

Once again, you’ll need to stand near the pair of Trolls and use the Mystical Heirloom (L1 + Circle) to start this fight. This is easily the most difficult of the three, thanks to environmental hazards and switching weapons consistently.

However, once you kill them, you’ll be able to get the final Slumber Stones to craft the full Steinbjorn Armor set.
After killing all of the Trolls, you can finally craft the Steinbjorn Armor set at any shop in the Nine Realms. You’ll craft them at Level 6 for the base level.
