The King’s Rock is an Evolution Item in Pokemon GO that everyone will want to get on Poliwag Community Day, but how can you earn them?
If you want to evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed, you’ll need a King’s Rock in addition to Candy – and King’s Rocks have never been more sought-after than on the July 2023 Poliwag Community Day!
This is because evolving Poliwhirl into Politoed during the event (or up to 5 hours afterward) will give your new Politoed the exclusive charged attack Ice Beam.
Luckily, King’s Rocks are also very easy to get during Poliwag Community Day!
How to Get King’s Rock on Pokemon GO Poliwag Community Day
During the Poliwag Community Day, there will be two easy ways to get King’s Rocks:
- Completing the following Tasks in the Community Day Limited Research:
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon
- Catch 5 Poliwag
- Make 5 Nice Throws
- Finishing the following Community Day Field Research Task may give a King’s Rock as a reward :
- Catch 3 Poliwag
The Community Day Limited Research will be active from 2 PM until 10 PM local time on August 8, 2023. Meanwhile, the Field Research Tasks can only be obtained during the event itself, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time.

Additionally, you will be able to pick up King’s Rocks the usual way on Poliwag Community Day – but this method requires a lot of luck.
There is a very low chance that you’ll receive a King’s Rock after spinning a PokeStop. This chance is only around 1% though, so if you’re after this rare Evolution Item, you’re better off completing the Timed or Field Research.

Every Pokemon That Requires a King’s Rock to Evolve
There are only two Pokemon in Pokemon GO that require a King’s Rock to evolve – Poliwhirl and Slowpoke. Here’s how you can evolve them and what they evolve into:
- Poliwhirl → Politoed
- Evolution Requires: King’s Rock, 50 Poliwag Candy
- Slowpoke → Slowking
- Evolution Requires: King’s Rock, 50 Slowpoke Candy

Good luck finding a King’s Rock in Pokemon GO so you can evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed, or Slowpoke into Slowking!
