How to Fix Battlefield 2042 Beta ‘Unknown Error’ Message & Find a Game

The Battlefield 2042 Beta is finally here but players are finding it difficult to get into a game thanks to an ‘unknown error’ matchmaking problem – here’s the fix!

Early Access for the Battlefield 2042 Beta has just gone live, but the launch has been far from smooth. There have been plenty of problems stopping players from enjoying the game.

One of the biggest problems so far is stopping players from actually joining a game. When matchmaking, players are greeted with a message saying ‘unknown error’ that stops them from joining a game.

Luckily, some clever players have found the solution to this annoying problem.

Battlefield 2042 Beta ‘Unkown Error’ Message – Matchmaking Solution

Most Battlefield fans were concerned about cheaters in the Beta, thanks to hackers already bypassing the Battlefield 2042 anti-cheat. However, it looks like they should have been more worried about the servers instead.

The ‘unknown error’ message has been a major problem from players booting up the Beta in its Early Access period as they can’t actually get into games. Luckily, a simple fix for this has been found already.

Players have found that the solution to the ‘unknown error’ is turning off crossplay. While this is not a sure-fire way to get into a game every time, it seems to improve your chances a lot!

One player reported that they had unsuccessfully searched for 50 matches. Then, after using this trick, it only took 3 searches to find a game.

EA is already aware of this error message and a proper fix is in the works already. As EA scales up the servers, getting into a game in the Battlefield 2042 Beta will become easier and, therefore, the ‘unknown error’ message will become less common.

Fingers crossed that the Beta goes smoothly from now on, otherwise EA could delay Battlefield 2042 until March!

Tried to join my clanmates, error unknown. Prob was, i had crossplay turned off, they had it on. When I enabled I could join without the error. If you want to play with friend, make sure you have same settings
