Fans of insectoid Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet may want to check out Dunsparce and the odd way you make it evolve into Dudunsparce.
If you’re looking to catch them all, you may have some issues with getting Dunsparce to evolve into its secondary form.
But don’t panic. While it may take a little bit of work, getting Dunsparce to evolve into Dudunsparce is easier than it seems. Fortunately, we’re here to help you figure out how to do it.
How Do You Evolve Dunsparce into Dudunsparce?
To evolve Dunsparce into Dudunsparce in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you need to teach it the move Hyper Drill.
Dunsparce will learn Hyper Drill naturally at level 32. So, it will evolve at that point into Dudunsparce unless you teach it Hyper Drill prior to that level.
If you happen upon a Dunsparce that is over level 32 but does not know Hyper Drill, you can have it relearn the move to evolve.

You will need to level it up once more after relearning Hyper Drill for the evolution to work. Of course, to have it learn Hyper Drill again, you’ll need to know how to reteach moves in Scarlet and Violet.
Where to Find Dunsparce in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Dunsparce can be found practically all over Paldea. However, you’re most likely to locate this Pokemon on the Western side of the island.
The only areas you will not find Dunsparce in are most of Glaseado Mountain (especially around Montenevera), Casseroya Lake, and West Province (Area One).
Be warned, Dunsparce will run underground if you startle it and will then be lost forever. Your best tactic is to crouch with B and throw your Pokemon at it with a combination of ZL to aim and ZR to throw.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the only sneaky Pokemon that’s hard to evolve in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, you may want to know how to evolve Greavard into Houndstone as well, just in case.
Where to Find Dudunsparce in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Dudunsparce can only be caught in The Great Crater of Paldea (Area Zero), the final area of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
To access this location, you will need to complete every story path and unlock The Way Home path. It is very much a late-game Pokemon, so evolving Dunsparce is likely the easier route.
It will definitely help to decide which story path you should do first in Scarlet and Violet. That way, you can catch a Dudunsparce as quickly as possible.
