The Fire/Dragon-type Pokemon Turtonator is not commonly found in Pokemon GO, but getting one isn’t too difficult, as long as you know how to do it!

Turtonator arrived in Pokemon GO on June 29, 2023, during the Dark Flames event. However, it still isn’t spawning in the wild months later.

In fact, there is only one way to catch Turtonator in Pokemon GO, at least for now!

How to Get Turtonator in Pokemon GO

Currently, the only way to get Turtonator in Pokemon GO is by defeating Turtonator in a Tier 3 Raid battle and then catching it.

When it made its debut in the Dark Flames event, there was also a Field Research Task to encounter Turtonator, but it is not currently available.

Find out the best Turtonator counters in our Pokemon GO Turtonator Raid guide. This will make defeating this boss much easier and ensure you can add Turtonator to your Pokedex.

Also, even if it has just come to the game, the shiny version of Turtonator is available to catch! However, the odds of this are very low, so you’ll have to hope you get lucky!

Pokemon GO Turtonator

While Turtonator is currently exclusive to 3-Star Raids, it will almost certainly spawn in the wild at a later date. This was the case with Druddigon, another Pokemon that made its GO debut in Tier 3 Raids.

Therefore, if you want to save a Raid Pass, you can always be patient and wait for Turtonator to release as a wild spawn.
