How to Buy a PS5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch OLED From Argos

If you’re on the hunt for a PS5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch OLED, Argos might be your best bet in the UK.

It’s still tough to get a next-gen console, even a year after launch. On top of that, another shortage is currently plaguing Nintendo fans after the release of the Switch OLED.

Thankfully, we’re at least getting regular restocks from major retailers with all 3 rare consoles. But with scalpers still being a major issue, buying your new device isn’t easy.

On top of that, the global chip shortage is still keeping console production low. And with rumors of a PS5 Pro coming in 2023, things aren’t getting better anytime soon.

Create an Argos Account Early

First things first, make sure you have an Argos account ready and set up well before new stock goes live. The easiest way to buy a PS5, Xbox, or Switch OLED is coming prepared, after all.

Make sure you have entered your payment information and shipping details well in advance of any restock. What’s more, sign in on as many devices as you can have ready.

Use Your Wishlist

By adding the PS5, Nintendo Switch OLED, or Xbox Series X to your Argos Wishlist, you can make things a lot easier for yourself. From your Wishlist page, you’ll be able to click Add to Trolley easily when drops go live.

With Argos, sometimes you’ll actually be able to add the item to your cart a number of hours prior to a restock actually arriving. However, it appears that drops only actually arrive early on weekday mornings, between 6-8 AM GMT, and that’s when you can successfully checkout.

Note: If the PS5 isn’t showing when you’re trying to add it to your wishlist, simply change the search preference from ‘Highest to Lowest Price’ and you’ll see the listing appear.

Check In-Store

Allegedly, you can check in-store at your local Argos to see how many PS5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch OLED consoles are in-stock.

However, for the more in-demand items, Argos won’t let the actual drop go live until a designated time. Still, this can be a useful way to determine how close the store is to a new restock!

Don’t Get Greedy

Even if you’re looking to buy a console for yourself and a friend, don’t get greedy when it comes to Argos. The retailer appears to only allow users to buy a single next-gen console, in an effort to combat scalpers.

Just adding a single PS5 or Xbox Series X to your cart is your best bet and you’ll be able to check out without too much of an issue.

Sometimes it’s even possible to get your next-gen console delivered, so explore all your options before giving up.
