How Much Will Overwatch 2 Cost?

Overwatch 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter – but how much will it cost?

It’s been a strange few years, waiting for Overwatch 2. Ever since the game was announced, the original Overwatch has gradually been on the decline.

It’s only natural when all the development resources are going into the sequel, after all, but Overwatch 2 is barely a sequel. In fact, the game will be completely compatible with its predecessor, and Overwatch 2 players will be playing alongside those who only own the first game.

What the new launch does offer is a full PVE mode to explore, as well as new modes, maps, and heroes for Overwatch 1. As far as we can tell so far, if you’re only interested in Multiplayer, then there’s no need to even upgrade.

It’s no wonder that pro streamers are calling Overwatch 2 ‘the same game again’.

But if you do want to get access to all the game’s new content, here’s what we know about pricing.

Overwatch 2 Price Details – Is it Free to Play?

Right now, Blizzard Entertainment is being rather quiet regarding the price of Overwatch 2, and we have no official price for the game.

From past statements, we can speculate that Overwatch 2’s PVP component will be free for existing Overwatch players. The game will, however, be changing to a 5v5 format and several heroes are getting reworks.

In addition, we’ll be playing on these new Overwatch 2 maps, with these new Overwatch 2 heroes!

But although select graphical enhancements might only be available for Overwatch 2 owners, Blizzard seems to have no intention of splitting the player base.

“Current Overwatch players will battle side-by-side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer; they’ll also be able to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps.” Blizzard‘s website states. “That means you’ll keep your skins, player icons, sprays, emotes, and more!”

However, if you don’t own Overwatch already, chances are you’ll have to purchase the title. Although there will undoubtedly be an option to buy Overwatch 2 with the previous game included too.

Right now, Overwatch is on sale for $39.99 on Nintendo Switch, $59.99 on PlayStation and Xbox (though currently discounted to below $20), and often cheaper than that on PC.

However, some Microsoft fans might not have to buy Overwatch 2 at all! After all, Overwatch 2 could be coming to Xbox Game Pass!

But if Blizzard wants the game to be a success, it needs to make these 8 big changes to Overwatch 2!
