This Is How Many PS5s Have Been Sold Worldwide So Far

Sony has revealed sales data for their PlayStation 5 console, and they've sold incredibly well despite stock issues.

The PlayStation 5 has been regarded as the must-have console ever since its reveal. Fans have been desperate to get their hands on the console that would take them into the next generation.

But, as we've seen since its release, it's had some difficulty making its way to consumers.

Stock problems have plagued the latest gaming generation. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles have never had enough consoles on shelves.

Speculation as to whether this is a sales strategy or simply a production error has circulated since launch. But sadly, it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.

Both consoles have been suffering; Microsoft has been forced to comment on the state of their console stock, and PS5 restocks have been canceled in Japan after it caused pandemonium in stores.

But despite this, the PlayStation 5 has made some incredible sales to those lucky enough to get their hands on it. Some of Sony's sales numbers have been released, and they're truly unprecedented.

Sony's Insane PlayStation 5 Sales

Despite the pushback of scalpers and stock stress, the PlayStation 5 has sold an unbelievable sum of consoles.

Data in a new report has been revealed that details Sony's sales over the holiday quarter. And while we'd learned that the PS5 is the company's best console launch ever, this is the first time we've seen some real sales figures.

It has now been revealed that less than two months after its launch, the PlayStation 5 had sold 4.5 million units. The PlayStation 4 also had an exciting resurgence, with 1.4 million new consoles being sold too.

This huge financial boost raised the finances of Sony's Game and Network Services division by an incredible 25%. This brings the division up to $8.4 million in value.

It has been stated that the production costs of the PlayStation 5 aren't too far away from the console's retail price, so Sony's margin for profit is a little slimmer than one might expect. Regardless, this is a remarkable statistic and is a further record of the PS5's popularity.

The next generation of gaming is immensely exciting, and these sales numbers show just how many gamers are desperate to get involved.

Despite every pushback, this generation is looking to be the biggest yet. The Xbox Series launch is Microsoft's biggest ever, and the PS5 is still selling out everywhere.
