How Many Players Has Warzone 2 Lost?

Don't assume Warzone 2 is on life support just yet.

Warzone 2’s population appears to be dropping, but how many players has the Battle Royale game lost and how many are still playing?

The issue certainly isn’t as bad as fans would make it out to be, but it’s clear that the Call of Duty title’s player count is definitely on the decline.

Are Less People Playing Warzone 2?

Yes, Call of Duty Warzone 2’s player base appears to be decreasing with each passing month.

Going off Steamcharts stats, we can see that MW2 & Warzone 2’s average concurrent player count dropped by 10% in March, 6.6% in February, and a whopping 42% in January 2023.

However, there is still currently an average of 86,359 players on MW2 or Warzone 2 on Steam alone, with daily peaks far exceeding that figure.

And while we can’t see how many of those are focused on the Battle Royale over Multiplayer, it should be noted that this is only a small portion of the game’s player base.

Where Are Most of Warzone 2’s Players?

After all, many players will likely be using Battle.net to play Warzone 2 on PC.

Not only that, but Call of Duty has a history of being far more popular on consoles than it is on PC, suggesting that the game’s player base is still extremely healthy.

That said, if Steamcharts is any indication as to how the player base is feeling about MW2 & Warzone 2, we are still seeing the population declining at a rapid rate.

Meanwhile, Epic Games is so confident in its Battle Royale’s population that you can now see how many people are playing Fortnite at any time!

Is Warzone 2 Dying?

Although Warzone 2’s player count is steadily decreasing (and lately a lot of fans are returning to Warzone 1), it wouldn’t be correct to say the Battle Royale is dying.

The game, which is now 5 months old, still has a very active player base, and nobody will have issues finding a match anytime soon – no matter their mode of choice.

What’s more, Modern Warfare 2 (including Warzone) has been at the top of the Xbox game charts ever since its launch in October 2022, with the game likely boasting similar success on PlayStation devices.

And as more exciting features continue to launch in upcoming seasons, we expect the game will remain healthy in the near future too.

But if things ever look dire, Activision may finally release Verdansk in Warzone 2 to boost that player base.
