Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies is the best iteration of the undead survival mode in years, but how many maps will it have in total?

Zombies is undoubtedly one of the best Call of Duty modes of all time, and Treyarch does it better than anyone else.

But a new COD Zombies mode lives or dies based on its maps. And while Black Ops 6 had two incredible experiences dropping at launch, will the game have enough to impress fans all year round?

All Black Ops 6 Zombies Maps

There are currently four maps available to play in Black Ops 6 Zombies. These maps are:

  • Terminus (Launch) – Once a US naval base, Terminus Island is now home to a Project Janus research station and a prison to hold members of Requiem.
  • Liberty Falls (Launch) – A quaint West Virginian town that has the misfortune of being the epicenter of a Dark Aether outbreak.
  • Citadelle des Morts (Season 1 Reloaded) – A spectacular castle in the Principality of Avalon, on the Mediterranean Coast, thought to hold the key to finding the Sentinel Artifact.
  • The Tomb (Season 2) – An ancient dig site where the Sentinel Artifact has been hidden away, set around a mysterious Door to Nowhere.

In addition, a fifth round-based map has been confirmed to arrive next season:

  • Shattered Veil (Season 3) – The Liberty Falls mansion that’s home to Edward Richtofen, as well as Project Janus. Here, S.A.M. claims to be able to use the Sentinel Artifact to potential rescue Samantha Maxis.

Since release, these Zombies maps have been arriving at an incredible pace, giving fans of the mode plenty of content to explore.

But surely Treyarch can’t keep up this breakneck pace of releases for long?

How Many Maps Will There Be?

According to Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, there are currently 3 round-based maps left to release in Black Ops 6 Zombies.

If this leak proves correct, that means the game will have 7 Zombies maps by the time the next COD title releases – and the leaker states that those maps may even carry over to this year’s new Black Ops game!

Given that Treyarch has had four years to develop Black Ops 6 Zombies, and looking at its incredible launch schedule so far, that figure certainly seems plausible.

Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch’s last Call of Duty title, only launched with a single Zombies map. However, by the end of its lifespan, there were four maps for players to choose from – alongside an open-world Outbreak mode.

It’s worth noting, however, that Call of Duty 2020 was originally being developed by Sledgehammer Games, before Activision had Treyarch take over the project.

Before that, Black Ops 4 launched with three Zombies maps, with five more coming throughout the year. Of course, this could be seen as a trade-off for the fact that Treyarch didn’t release a Campaign alongside the 2018 game.

Between those releases, Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty Vanguard also had a Zombies mode developed by Treyarch. Like Cold War, the game launched with a single map, and concluded with four available by the end of the year.

Since Black Ops 6 already had two maps for us to play on release day (with more dropping every season) and because the development team has had more preparation time than usual, we’d say it’s extremely likely that we’ll definitely end up with far more than five maps this time around.

After all, it seems unthinkable that Treyarch would only be able to put out just one more map after Shattered Veil arrives in Season 3.

However, fans who are hoping for a Zombies Chronicles 2 level of support may find themselves left disappointed.
