How Long Does Hogwarts Legacy Take to Beat?

According to recent previews, it will take around 40 hours to beat the main story of Hogwarts Legacy, with up to 100 hours needed for completionists to 100% the Harry Potter game.

There will be a huge array of side quests and plenty of exploration for those who want to dive deep into the Wizarding World.

Previously, a completion time of 35 hours was leaked by a fan who claimed to have an early copy of the Hogwarts Legacy artbook. Now, hands-on previews attest that developers state the main story will take a minimum of 40 hours to complete, with a lot more time to be spent on optional side content.

After all, there are reportedly around 100 side quests for Hogwarts Legacy fans to discover and around 50 main quests!

Avalanche Studios’ Lead Game Designer Alan Tew stated that even with his intricate knowledge of the game, it still took him around 80 hours to 100% the Harry Potter game. We imagine that new players will take even longer than that to come to the end of their time in the Wizarding World.

And while it may take 40 hours for a single run-through, it’s very possible that players will want to play through Hogwarts Legacy in a different house after completing the game.

That same artbook leaker also claims that houses such as Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin will have slightly different main quest experiences. One of the houses will supposedly visit Azkaban, the Wizard prison, during the story’s events.

Since Azkaban almost certainly means Dementors, perhaps this is even more evidence that you’ll be able to use a Patronus in Hogwarts Legacy.
