Horizon Forbidden West Is PlayStation’s Most Watched State of Play Ever

Horizon Forbidden West is already a huge success for PlayStation, with the most watched State of Play of all time.

Despite exceptional sales, there’s not a whole lot of reason for gamers to get their hands on a PS5 right now. Despite the success of Demon’s Souls, Returnal, and more, PS5 exclusives are few and far between.

However, there are some incredible AAA titles coming exclusively for PS5 soon! And with Horizon Forbidden West’s gameplay reveal showing off exactly what the next-gen console can handle, players will soon be desperately beginning the search with fresh energy.

Of course, Horizon is coming to PS4 as well as next-gen consoles. But what we saw in the recent Horizon Forbidden West State of Play was certainly not all possible on the 7-8-year-old hardware.

The recent State of Play for Horizon Forbidden West was PlayStation’s most popular showcase yet!

When it comes to Sony’s State of Plays, the company uses the showcases to reveal in-depth looks at upcoming projects. So far, we’ve seen the likes of Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 2, and more in State of Plays.

Just last month, we saw a huge State of Play for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. And the previous State of Play currently has an impressive 981,000 views since its broadcast last month.

However, when it comes to Horizon Zero Dawn’s sequel, the hype levels are noticeably higher. Already, Horizon Forbidden West is surpassing 3.5 million views – just one day after its premiere.

What’s more, it’s already the most-watched State of Play ever for a single PlayStation Studios game. The State of Play surpassed all previous showcases in just 3 hours, which really shows the excitement levels for the 2021 release.

Hopefully, we’ll hear a little more from Guerrilla Games soon with regards to the game’s exact release date. Although Sony isn’t attending E3 2021, we’re likely to see Horizon Forbidden West appear in the company’s Summer games event.

Interestingly it’s games like these that help inspire Sony’s huge increase in popularity with female gamers. Having a strong female lead like Aloy is a great thing for diversity in the gaming industry.

Games analyst Benji-Sales points out Horizon’s tremendous success, labeling it the most-watched State of Play ever for a single game.

Given that Horizon Zero Dawn eventually came to PC, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Forbidden West arrive on the platform eventually. Especially since Sony has another AAA title coming to PC very soon.

Meanwhile, a new tease for God of War Ragnarok has fans undecided about whether it’s good or bad news!
