Relics in Honkai: Star Rail allow players to bring up the stats of their favorite characters and push their skills to their limits.
Once you’ve unlocked the Relic system by progressing through the story, you’ll start to obtain them from various missions and in-game objectives.
Unlike the characters and Light Cones which require a stroke of luck to obtain, players can actually choose which Relics they go after.
What Are Relics in Honkai Star Rail?
Relics are items that players can equip to boost their stats and gain certain set bonuses. There are six Relic slots in Honkai Star Rail and characters can equip one of each.
This means each character can hold up to a maximum of six relics. Players that equip Relics from the same set will also activate unique set bonuses.
Relics provide two different types of boosts. There are some relic types that always give the same stat a boost and others where the main stat boosted is randomly determined by RNG.
Here are the types of Relic and what main stat they are tied to:
Relic Type | Main Stats |
---|---|
Head | • HP – Flat |
Hands | • ATK – Flat |
Body | • HP% • ATK% • DEF% • CRIT Rate% • CRIT DMG% • Outgoing Healing Boost% • Effect Hit Rate% |
Feet | • HP% • ATK% • DEF% • Speed – Flat |
Planar Sphere | • HP% • ATK% • DEF% • Physical DMG Boost% • Quantum DMG Boost% • Imaginary DMG Boost% • Fire DMG Boost% • Ice DMG Boost% • Lightning DMG Boost% • Wind DMG Boost% |
Link Rope | • HP% • ATK% • DEF% • Break Effect% • Energy Regen Rate% |
Each Relic can also have up to a total of four sub-stats that players can use to craft their playstyle for each of the many characters in Honkai: Star Rail.
It is important to understand how these relics affect your build because they can make all the difference in battle.
But before you focus on obtaining a Relic, make sure you already pulled your favorite character from the current Honkai: Star Rail Warp Banner.

How to Unlock Relics in Honkai: Star Rail
To unlock your first set Relics and use them you need to reach Trailblazer Level 14 and complete the story mission “Ones Fallen Into the Abyss.”
Players will encounter this mission during the “In the Withering Wintry Night” Trailblazer Mission that takes place in Jarilo-VI.
Once you’ve satisfied both requirements you will receive an onscreen prompt and short tutorial about equipping Relics. But keep in mind that this only unlocks the Head, Hands, Body, and Feet Relic pieces.
To unlock the Planar Sphere and Link Rope Relics you’ll need to complete the Trailblazer Mission “No Time For Me, My Friend.”
Best Ways to Obtain Relics
The best way to obtain Relics in Honkai: Star Rail is to use the Cavern of Corrosion and Simulated Universe to obtain the set pieces you need.
Players will unlock the Cavern of Corrosion after completing the “The Star are Cold Toys” Trailblazer Mission. Once unlocked, players can play through six different Caverns of Corrosion.
Each cavern is the home of two of the 12 Relic Sets in Honkai: Star Rail. But players will only find the sets that use Head, Hands, Body, and Feet.
There are 6 Cavern of Corrosion locations that players can use to farm for Relics:
- Path of Gelid Wind
- Relics:
- Hunter of Glacial Forest
- Eagle of Twilight Line
- Location – Storage Zone in Herta Space Station

For the other two types of Relics (Planar Spheres and Link Ropes), players will need to visit the Simulated Universe.
In the Simulated Universe, players will need to progress through the Worlds to earn these relic sets as rewards.
Players can also craft Relics, but that doesn’t unlock until you reach Traiblazer Level 40 which could take quite a bit of time. This is why the Cavern of Corrosion and Simulated Universe are your best bet early on.
