Hogwarts Legacy allows you to customize your wand with a range of customization options, including wand type, the wood it is made of, and the material at its core.

Players can choose whichever of the types, woods, and cores as they have no effect on gameplay, only on the appearance of the wand.

So, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to use all of the unforgivable curses in Hogwarts Legacy, regardless of which wand customization options you end up choosing.

Here’s everything we know about wand customization in Hogwarts Legacy:

Can You Customize Your Wand in Hogwarts Legacy?

Yes, you can completely customize the appearance of your wand in Hogwarts Legacy. You can change its style and even color.

However, you cannot customize the stats or power of your wand. The only thing you can change about your wand is its appearance.

When Do You Choose Your Wand in Hogwarts Legacy?

You choose your wand during the Welcome to Hogsmeade main mission. After heading to Hogsmeade, with whichever of Hogwarts Legacy’s many companions you choose to join you, you’ll go to Ollivanders.

Much like picking which House you’ll be sorted in, choosing your wand happens very early on in Hogwarts Legacy.

Fans shouldn’t expect to spend longer than 2 hours before picking their wand so long as they just do the main missions.

How Does Wand Selection Work in Hogwarts Legacy?

Selecting your wand in Hogwarts Legacy will happen during the main storyline and cannot be missed. You will go to Ollivanders in Hogsmeade, where you will be presented with various customization options.

All you need to do is customize your wand by selecting out of the plethora of options until it looks right to you.

You can also transfer your wand from your Wizarding World account by linking it to Hogwarts Legacy before you start playing.

What Is the Best Wand in Hogwarts Legacy?

There is no best wand in Hogwarts Legacy, as the wand customization options are entirely cosmetic and therefore do not affect the overall power of your wand.

So, whichever wand you end up going with will technically be the best wand in Hogwarts Legacy as you made it, and it’s personal to you.

What Does Each Wand Customization Option Do in Hogwarts Legacy?

There are three different options for wand customization in Hogwarts Legacy. This is how each of them affects your wand:

  • Wand Style – This directly affects what your wand will look like and what color of wood it is. This is the only option that will change the appearance of your wand.
  • Wand Wood – This allows you to change the type of wood your wand is made of, its length, and how bendy it is. However, this doesn’t change the appearance of your wand at all and is purely for roleplaying purposes.
  • Wand Core – This changes the material that is at the core of your wand. Once again, this has no effect on the visual appearance of your wand and is only there for roleplaying purposes.

Do the Wand Cores Affect Your Wand?

No, the type of Wand Core you choose when customizing your wand in Hogwarts Legacy has no effect on your wand whatsoever.

It does not affect your wand’s power, nor does it affect your wand’s appearance. The option to alter your Wand Core exists purely for roleplaying purposes.

Can You Change Your Wand in Hogwarts Legacy?

No, once you have finished customizing your wand and purchased it from Ollivanders, you cannot change it again.

The only way to change your wand after purchasing it is to revert to a previous save before going into Ollivanders. So, we recommend saving just before entering the shop.
